Carbon Fiber roof

I have been checking out getting my roof carbon fiber or black wrapped. here is a pick I found, has everything I have but missing the OEM CF mirrors. What is your opinion? Here is a pic of the current and the proposed roof. I have the OEM front CF diffuser installed, not shown in my pic but you get the idea from the rendering.

I think its a good option. I personally am going to get a glossy black because there is nothing carbon fiber on my car so doesn't make sense for me do carbon fiber.

In my opinion, gloss black looks absolutely perfect on AW cars. Large CF surfaces are better suited to smaller sportier (do I dare saying more "boy racer" type of) cars.

F10 is classy, great looking car and in my view, CF wrapped roof would cheapen that a bit. Gloss black fits F10's classy/grown up image better.

i'm about 70% on this as i've watched enough YouTube videos on removing the shark fin. looks like it's just double sided tape holding it down. i will tho check to see if the sunroof gasket can be pulled off with the sunroof open instead of just cutting at the gasket. if i can't do that i'm not doing the roof.

edit: just went out to the car opened up the sunroof and i tried peeling the gasket off the edge with some pressure but it'll bend down but not peel off but it's enough to perhaps push the vinyl edge down into the groove for a cleaner look so that just bumps me to 85%. i'm just thinking if this will flow well with the carbon components i have already?

There is a company that makes a full carbon fiber roof for our car but it's not precut for the sunroof. So if you're wanting to keep the sunroof you will have to find someone that will cut into the carbon fiber. I'm sure this would be a very expensive mod but I could say you would save on weight.

Got it done 3 years ago so the cost won't be as relevant. Think it was about $200.

Yes, shark fin is held on by double sided tape, but be sure to resell it well when putting it back on. I know of people that had leaks after removing their shark fin. Also be very careful when removing the plug on the shark fin antenna. It had some very fragile pins that are easy to damage. Mine was damaged when they did my roof and the installer had to by me a new one.

Thanks Bake! i'm pretty careful with my car when it comes to taking things off! i will use 3m tape to reseal the shark fin back down. i'll probably tackle this on my next day off...i'll see...it's not a real priority

Not the most glamorous of locations

I prefer the matte carbon look to the gloss black, gives the car a sleeker look imo... I also have the rear diffuser in carbon and some detailing on the front bumper in carbon. Roof fin and mirrors are painted gloss black and the chrome side marker and handle inserts are wrapped gloss black.

Wasn't sure how to turn around the vertical pictures

Very nice BEAST but did your BMW come without a sunroof? I can't live without mine!

Yeah no sunroof, not many F10's with them in the UK. I prefer the full panoramic roofs like in my wife's F48 to the style on the F10, I hope they add this as an option to the new model as MB have done these for years in the E Class

Very nice, but I think I will go with the gloss wrap.

I probably would have had gloss black if I had a sunroof as it blends better with the glass

so i was looking at my car all night while i'm on 3rd shift and I decided not to do the roof in carbon fiber. tho i think it would look pretty damn good i decided on just based on pure aesthetics i wanna keep a large part of the car black and just leaving the normal carbon fiber modifications to the front lip, grill, mirror covers, rear spoilier, roof spoiler, side skirt extensions, diffuser and side rear diffusers but who knows later if i change my mind. being my car is JetBlack it all blends well
