2013 550i with N63tu engine ?

Do you guys think that the new N63tu engine with additoinal HP and toruqe being placed in the 2013 650i Grand Coupe will be placed in the upcoming (2013 and beyond) 550i cars? If so, will this hurt resale value of the 2011 and 2012 models?

I think all changes are reflective of evolution.

540 > 545 > 550, running changes with transmissions, iDrive/CIC, etc.

If they didn't improve, people wouldn't buy new ones...

I would have to say no (at least not for another few years ... guessing). To separate the premium prices charged on the 6 series, otherwise, why would anyone want to pay $20,000+ for the 6 series if the updated 5 series have the same power.

For me, I certainly would not buy a 6 series if that's the case.

I was thinking of the same thing. I remember the figures on the 650GC is 448hp & 480 torque. It would make sense for BMW to implement this motor into the 550 because the facelift 7 series will have the same motor. No point in having 2 different motors.

Umm...

Because the 5 series and 6 series are two different models? Power isn't everything. The new M5 and M6 have identical power, and the M6 has a base price delta of +$16.2k

It is likely that they will get it at some point, if for no other reason than it will improve fuel econony and that will be important for CAFE targets. I don't know if it will be 2013 (but I hope it will be) but you never know.
