You'll be fine with the ET25 in the rear, nice and flush.

For snow/ice we usually use either studless or studded (matter of personal taste) tires that are especially made for those conditions. Real snowtires from the major manufacturers: Michelin X-Ice (studless) or X-Ice North (studded) Nokian Hakkapelitta R or R2 (studless) or Hakkapelitta 7 or 8 (studded) Continental ContiVikingContact (studless) or ContiIceContact (studded) Pirelli Winter IceControl (studless) or Winter Carving Edge (studded) Goodyear Ultragrip Ice+ (studless) or UltraGrip Ice Arctic (studded) These can be pretty expensive but as always, you get what you pay for. Note that they have others that have similar names and those are usually cheaper. But there's a reason, they're not what I would call real snow tires. |

Thanks everyone who responded - I think I will purchase the set - there is no option to swap tires as the set if already built and sitting at dealer - ordering a separate set of tires is going to be lots of hassle. I am in the north east so hoping these tires will suffice

My winter setup. 245-45-18, Nokian Hakkapelitta R2 run flats. So far I like them better than the Dunlop D3's I had on my last F10.

A friend of mine installed Nokian tires to replace factory supplied tires (non BMW). He liked the handling but said that the tires were pretty stiff compared to what he had on. If the OP is uncertain, the best thing to do is to buy from a local shop that has a satisfaction guarantee (usually 30 days). In that way he can assess the ride, handling and snow/ice performance. Of course you need to narrow your choice down to what tire you think is the best one and hope you are right because I doubt the tire shop mount 4 different sets of tires for him to "road test". Not as inexpensive as The Tire Rack, but gives some peace of mind.
