Just put the akebono on my F06 front. Initial feel is that it is quite a bit weaker than the BMW OEM pads that the F06 came with. But I will give akebono a week or two to be sure. I recall I felt the brakes were a tad weak when I first took delivery of the F06 but it improved after 2 weeks......

Yes that is normal.. not what you were looking for? Bite is less, but smoother ..
I had to make a harsh stop, glad to report the brakes did not fall apart and stopping was completely predicatable and sufficient
However not as strong as some of you would prefer
The 528 has same size rotors front and back, really it is just sufficient to stop such a large car, however not being able to increase the rear stopping power, this weak front stopping allows the car to stop very level with no front loading/drooping as most of the braking is done with the hasher compound pads on the rear ..
So comfort, not performance at all.

I think I will have to take the akebono off and put the stock back in. Tonight I tried several emergency stops (full pedal to the floor) and I can tell the car is taking longer to come to a stop vs when stocks were on. And I was just trying at 60km/h downhill....

Brake pads takes time to run in too. How long you got them on? You changed the rotors as well or you using the same old rotors?

I think that should be about what you can expect.. i have settled into mine, can stop seamlessly which is a big improvement over the grabby stock for me - perhaps the stock setup for 650i GC is already optimized .. or you can big brake again for even more stopping power

Thumbs up

Hi Grimlock,

Glad to hear that your F10 squeak no more after using the Akebono brake pads and i order one pair for myself straight the way coz the squeaking sound before full stop is so annoying and embarrassing.

However, i am not a DIY guy, so do you know any good mechanics in Hong Kong(HK Island) who can help to change the pads for me?

Look forward for your recommendation.

Thx

Thank you Grimlock. The Akebono pads on the front is fabulous. Although the squeaking noise is not gone totally but at least when my car come to the full stop, it doesn't sound like i am driving a bus. It only squeaks once or twice for the 1st two pump and not anymore afterwards and it stops as good as the OE. Hope that the rear pads will come out soon.

Thank you for the advice.

He can only charge at most say $200 for installation of this single item

Do you think he would serve such a new customer?
