Question Hesitation during acceleration 535i

F10 535i with 1500 miles.

I have noticed a hesitation/lag during acceleration.

When at a cruise speed around 40mph and I quickly press about 1/2 down on the accelerator to gain speed there is a slight hesitation/lag before the engine kicks in. If I slowley press on the accelerator the speed increase is smooth.

Does anyone else have this issue.

Another item....when does the blower kick in.

Probably the tranny downshifting. I'll try this on my 6MT and see what happens. Are you in top gear at 40mph or something close? At 40 I'd probably be in about 4th gear or so. Maybe fifth. Obviously in third, the car should take off immediately for me.

Maybe try with the tranny in sport (manual) mode so it won't downshift on its own just to see if it's really just tranny lag. If so, there's not much you can do about it other than apply the gas smoother.

Almost immediately from my understanding. Around 2K rpm or so.

HI. Suffer from the same issue. I just think it's the car being in 7/8th gear at 40 then of course it has to drop say 3/4 gears to pick up once the foot is down.. it isn't one of the best bits of the car i have to say.. but i think i can live with it

Thanks for the info uktivo. I tried it at a steady 50 and then a steady 60 today and still have the hesitation.

When I press on the gas the rpm immediately revs but there is a hesitation before there is any increase in speed.

I do not have the option to change to normal or comfort or sport or sport+

I have a regular 8 speed steptronic transmission.

I drove the 335 with N54 & 535 with N55. I have noticed that the N55 have more lag than the N54 engines. I noticed a delay of 300-400RPM. Maybe someone else can verify this.
