Hello All,

Just got a JB4 stage 2 install on my 2011 550xi and it is throwing up a headlight, turn signal and a few other issues

Any idea how to solve?

How did you determine your Stage 2 is causing it? They are no way related in function

I had the JB4 installed (professional) and then this started happening. Headlight malfunctions and the expected drive train malfunction.

When disabled the malfunction clears.

they must've not wired the DME connections right.

After a ton of reading and gaining a brass set of balls I opened up the ecu and checked all wires. Found one not completely in.... Headlight malfunctions have cleared.

Any idea how to get rid of the drive train malfunction? Been reading up but some of the explanations are Chinese to me lol

Doesn't the JB4 auto clear codes? If not go to autozone and have them clear the codes or get the icarly app and the adaptor.

If the drivetrain malfunction is still happening I don't think that person who installed it was a "professional"

Went to a shop that has been around for over 15 years. They admitted that they had not done this system in a bit and that they did not prefer it.

Been doing some research and it is suggested to clean the MAF sensor.

There are so many resources on the boards here. FSociety I believe he is in your area and has a wealth of knowledge on this topic. Or hit up the n54tech boards where terry from BMS is easily found.

Also a badly wired JB4 that is giving those kinds of errors is an opportunity installation problem. I would pull it if the problem is indecipherable until its properly hooked up. You wouldn't want additional electrical problems due to a bad install.

I don't think he has JB4, his original post says Stage 2 which isn't JB4 and doesn't have CANbus access. So he has to manually clear the code, I don't think they wired your tune correctly. If you're DTM comes on right when turning the vehicle on, it's not installed properly or the tune is faulty. If the tune isn't installed properly, I hope they numbered the wires or else you'll need to take the vehicle to BMW or pull up the wiring diagram yourself with ISTA and make sure the wires go back to the right pins.

Bummer, the installer should be responsible. Why would they accept a job they weren't capable of without disclosing the risk?

That's expensive to install a JB4.

They're so easy to install

That's a good point. Max install time is one hour and that's if you've never done it before.

Jb4 stage 2 so it was complicatedm

400 in and 400 out. So 800... Called it 1000 for simplicity.

Who charged you that?

It's no more than an hour install.

You take 2 connectors apart from the DME and wire 8 cables. Then swap TMAP plugs.

What a headache. With the old Stage2 if you install the TMAP connectors only and NEVER touch the DME wires (just tuck them out of the way) it still works like Stage1.

Did they give you an invoice for the work? Have another shop estimate the install time and then take them to small claims. That's no joke robbery.
