I am hearing you need to order the convenience package which adds power truck closure and soft close doors for a whopping $1900 !!
Why do we need to buy two superfluous geriatric options to get comfort access? Are you listening BMW? |

It doesn't seem like it's that way in the States, yet, but unfortunately in Canada has resorted to doing what the Japanese luxury makers do; only allowing options to be selected from different packages. Except for heated steering wheel, most cars don't have any other standalone options. Sucks, but I can see one possible reason why they may be doing that. They may save costs by packaging things together; better estimate demand of different equipment, order for smaller inventories, reduce admin costs, etc.

I just went to my dealer to discuss the end of my lease on my E93. While there, the saleslady gave me the ordering guide on the new F10. Comfort Access was listed as a standalone "Priority 1" option. She said that meant that if I ordered the car then I would be able to order Comfort Access standalone. But no cars ordered by the dealer (without a specific personal order) would have that option by itself without the Convenience Package.

Yes Comfort access is standalone option, number 332.
I ordered my car with: Premium package 2 (ZPP, ZP2) Comfort Access (322) Split Folding Rear Seat (465) I should have asked for a copy of the option sheet to take home..DOH! |

I also ordered mines with ZP2, Comfort access, and split folded rear seats!. I got the 535xi version. The final ordering information will come in April/May for October delivery. I did not get the ZSP because it is required to get it with the intergral active steering which I do not want.

This car will be driven 60 miles a day commuting to NYC.
You ever drive on the BQE after a snow storm? The roads in NY suck, the pot holes are the size of manholes, and the standard for what constitutes a bump is apparently measured in distance your car travels without touching the road on impact) I've replaced 3 tires in 2 months of winter driving this year on my VW that has 16" rims. My Lexus IS350 with Summer tires on 19" wheels makes it feel like your riding on a radio flyer down a staircase and I've got a nice bent lip on the front rim courtesy of the NYSDOT. (guess who is not fixing that with 3 weeks to go on the lease).Needless to say, not a whole lot of smoothness out there, except for the beach area parkways. Ill pass on the look for the comfort. I guess Im getting old. And Im not even 30 yet...Sheesh. Either way, Im quite confident BMW can make a car comfortable and perform well, even brake occasionally too in the stock suspension and wheel configuration. But the real seller was that fact that I dont remember ever there being a BMW that was lost control over because of poor floor mat design. I mean if you cant get A ONE FOOT PIECE OF CARPET WITH NO MOVING PARTS right, its time to consider upgrading your engineering staff..OMG did I just start ranting about superior japanese engineering.. |

I heard from my dealer late yesterday that if I want comfort access I have to order the complete convenience package. I want comfort access but don't need the other stuff so we will see.
He emailed BMW this morning however and got confirmation that it CAN be ordered as a stand alone option. Last edited by DallasMike; 03-18-2010 at 10:01 AM.. Reason: updated information |

Same here. I have a 2006 GS300 AWD with sports 18 inch rims and I have damaged 3 rims so far. 1 from pothole, and 2 from curb rash. I am in the mid to late 20s and do not want to put up with complex steering systems that can be trashed by bad roads in Michigan. Our roads are not even as bad as NYC roads since i been there for a while but still. I love my Lexus but its sensitive to the roads also.

It is Priority 1 Option Number 322 Comfort Access Keyless Entry on the F10 550. This is according to a BMW NA Document created 3.15.10. It is also available in the Convenience Package along with the Power Trunk and the Soft Close Automatic Doors.
I just got back from the dealer after ordering a 550 for Euro Delivery so my information is current.
