Premium Package Comfort Access Keyless Entry Question

On a 2016 528i xDrive the Premium Package is $2,600.

Included in the package is Comfort Access Keyless Entry.

If a car doesn’t have the package, must it be locked/unlocked by the buttons on the remote?

There’s still a start/stop ignition button, correct?

Any way to order Comfort Access Keyless Entry as a stand alone options without the whole package?

Thanks.

That's a good question! I have never not had comfort access, but since it boldly features "keyless entry" in the literature I think it's a fair assumption that without it you would need a key to unlock the door.

Or, it could be referring to the nifty way that the door handles lock and unlock the car. I'm curious now, lol. Can't wait for someone to weigh in!

comfort access is when you dont have to touch your key fob to enter the car, simply touch the grooves on the handle, without comfort access you have to manually take your key fob out and unlock the car. Yes without comfort access it will still have push to start button.

My 2007 Infiniti G35 Sedan, had the button on the handle to unlock, even the cheapest model. My fairly loaded 2011 BMW 550i worth double the price, does not have that from factory, its an extra package ... I was so defeated when I got home and figured out it didnt have comfort access.

And wow, 550Reasons, that's crazy; sorry to hear. So there are no grooves on your door handles? I suppose this is the best way to tell.

Anyone know if this feature can be added separately, a la carte, without the whole package?

Right I dont have the grooves, cant open my trunk with my foot, and doesnt have a motor in the trunk either. I've gotten used to it but now that I know better I will make sure it has it next time.

Same here, no comfort access. I bought my car CPO and at that time it was hard enough finding an M-Sport in my color combo, so I decided to forego Comfort Access. I didn't think it was a big deal until I started driving my wife's car a bit more (we bought 2 vehicles about a month apart) and I realized her Toyota Venza had the feature and my BMW didn't.

Comfort access is awesome, love it. It is a must have for me.
The fact that Comfort Access is not standard is less shocking to me than the fact that, even in the F10, you can get a 5 series without leather (BMW calls it "Leatherette") and without Xenon headlights - yep halogen are still the standard bulb. Really?

I have comfort access, grooves and illuminated , as long as key is in hand or pocket i never need to push a button, but i cannot open my "boot" with my foot....a little tug on the latch triggers and opens it though...IMHO Comfort Access should include remote start-up capabilities...2012 535i

All 2012 year F10 and onwards can open the boot with the leg if the car has comfort access. So either you car is a 2010 or 2011 model year or the sensor doesn't work on your car or you're doing something wrong.

Didn't know I had that feature.(open the boot with the leg). Will try it out tomorrow.
