I can't be the only one with this problem
I have a 2013 528xi and when climate control is on I hear a very faint thud noise or faint knocking noise that can be felt on the steering wheel and brake pedal.
This only occurs when the climate control is on regardless of whether engine is on or off. The only way to stop the thudding or knocking is to turn climate off or to the coldest setting. Anyone else affected? Can anyone weigh in on this matter? |

The same exact thing is happening to my wife's 2006 X3 with 141,000 miles... The BMW tech believes it is the "IHKA heater valve." I am not sure if this helps or is applicable to your issue.

It is going to the dealer next week for the repairs. Something around $600. I will let you know. BTW it was having that problem for about a year so I do not think it was urgent.

The 2006 X3 came back from the dealer and the thudding in the break peddle when the heat is on has stopped. The tech put it was the "IHKA heater valve" in the quote, but the invoice said "replace water valve." Cost: $370.78
I hope this helps. |

Yes i wonder if heater valve = water valve. I got a quote 130 for the part and 170 for repair
so more or less 300+taxes and fees so roughly about the same as you. this helps a lot. Water valve i read on various forums is same as heater valve. I'll be doing this repair in the fall after summer time. |
