Cold Wx Tire & Wheel RFT failure solutions?

Has anyone tried the 18" Cold Weather Tire and Wheel package? I have nuked 8 tires in 35k miles. 5 of those goodyears in the first 3500 miles. i have had 3 bridgestone potenza RE050 failures two left fronts and 1 right front. two had huge (6") holes and the last was a bubble. I have the sport package with the 19's. I love the car but i am sick of dropping $125 for a tire every few months. so back to my question has anyone tried the winter package and is i any better than the RFT's? I dont want to get rid of it but i dont want to drop another $2700 on this set to find out they dont work either. Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

Perhaps invest in road hazard coverage?
