Thanks for the reply.
That is basically a show stopper for me as these cars will be ripe for an update for a few more years still I'd have to guess....and I am 150+ miles from the NorCal installer (Aleksshop in Fremont, CA). Bummer. Might be worth going for in 2016 or something if there is no further chance the 2013's are getting software updates.

I took my 535 in for an oil change last week and asked them to check all the software, etc to see if there were any upgrades on my non-NAV version. My coding is still working so I assume they didn't have to (or didn't bother) updating anything.
I suppose this means I would be okay with a retro-NAV install. There is no way in hell I would be able to take it out before going into the dealer in the future.

I just wanted so say thank you for the DIY explanations. So far I have installed the GPS antenna at the exact same location you explained and have run the cable until the hood handle. I will have to run the GPS extention cable from the unit back to the hood handle.
I just received the post delivery notice today for my retrofit CIC kit so I will be able to pick it up tomorrow and start installing the screen and GPS unit during Christmas holidays. Hopefully everything will go well and the GPS kit will be in perfect working order... I will know soon enough. Just to be sure, my GPS is supposed to be already coded with my VIN so it should work after installed? The only thing I should not get is the direction arrow between speed and RPM until the car gets coded right? |

I finally received the head unit and screen today and completed the installation.
Everything is working perfectly, only execption is that I did not purchased a glove box usd because I though I would be able to use the one in the armrest to upload data but I don't... Is there other way to upload music? I am amazed how the place that I purchased my stuff from perfectly FSC coded the unit for Navigation, combox, voice control, all setup in french (my main language) and they also installed the latest 2015 NA maps! |

I received these question via PM and I though it would be nice to share my answer because maybe other would be interested.

1- 2011 April I believe 2- I bought the headunit, 10.2" screen, 2015 map update, FSC coding for voice and navigation all for 1000$ USD shipped to my home + 30$ for GPS antenna and extension. Total cost 1030$ installed since I did it my-self! 3-Currently the only thing that do not work is the arrow in the instrument cluster since it need to be coded in the car via ENET cable but this can be done easily or can pay someone to do it for cheap. 4- Used NBT were more expensive and I was not fully sure it would be as plug and play and if I could have the FSC code to active it... I am very happy how everything turned out, the look of 10.2 screen, functionnalities of CIC, trouble free installation with precoded (FSC) and obviouly cheap cost! Hope this helps |

Sorry I was away for a while. THe only way I can think of is to write all your music on a DVD or CD and then save the musics from DVD to your car. BTW, good job with the installation. Have fun.

Yes, The only extra cable needed was the one for GPS antenna.
