Thoughts on 528i M Sport as opposed to 535i ?

I think the early 528i's were 6 pots and the newer ones 4 where as the 535i is a classic straight six.

I'm a diesel driver however I would say go for the straight six over a 4.
More power, no brainer in my opinion if you can afford to get one.

Used, 16 months old, loaded well priced. I drive a 335, 47 months old.

I would guess coming from a 335, you may notice the performance of the 528 is not up to your 335. It's a heavier car as well.
Obviously go for a test drive , only you can decide whether it's for you or not.

If I were in that market, I'd persoanlly go for the 535i . Petrols will obviously be harder to find as most of the 5's out there are diesels (mostly 520d) but I'm sure there are some well specced out 535i's to be had.

I guess it depends how you want to drive it whetehr you want a more sporty and performance oriented ride or not.

There are so many specification difference between the cars as regards suspension (thats a whole thread in itself!) and engines and weather you want SE / Luxury or Msport trim.

If buying from a BMW dealership, push for a good price as the new 5 is I belive to be announced shortly so I'm sure they will be keen to shift stock.

I am aware of the new model coming out n the new year and am trying to gauge the best time to buy as well as which model to have. I'm sceptical about moving from a six to a four hence the post.

Not saying the 4 is a bad car by any means but I think the 6 will be better.
have a drive, thats the only way to be sure.

Turbos are amazing things but there is no substitute for cubes (apparently). Money spent on spark plugs is never wasted (probably). Test drive because reality is never wrong (definitely).

Same here, try the car and see what you think.

I'm another who is biased to the 535i. To me, it is the engine which enhances the blend of driving characteristics, makes the car so satisfying to drive.

I tried the 328i (ahead of getting the 535i) and had mixed feelings and reservations on moving to a 4-pot engine after driving a 6-cylinder.
