Their site lists it as a 2010, not a 2011, despite the fact that the image is of a 2011 550i w/a sport package.

LOL! Sorry my friend, I didn't really mean to do it, honest :-) I'm very eager to see the xdrive models as well. As far as I've heard they don't start production for another month or two.

If the car you want isn't yet in production, but is coming soon, talk to the dealer about extending your lease for a few months.

I've seen that said before, but haven't seen an official source on it yet. I don't care so much about IAS, but I do want the sport tranny.. know where I might find some more details on this?

thanks!

This is true. No sport tranny was a deal breaker for me. I canceled my 550xi order & now will get a 550 with the paddles plus multi-clutch tranny. It is that good!

Yeah... I think I agree. I've driven this 550 with the sport transmission, and paddles. It was awesome and I want that capability. I'll give up xdrive for that.

what is the real difference in reg and sport tranny in a 550? i am still on the fence until the configuration is available.

i am getting the x version for the winter driving, feels so much safer in the snow.

I have had to put 4 snows on my current 335xi.
Now when I think back to the 99 540i that I used to own and drive thru the winter w/ all season snows with no problems, I say to myself why do I need xdrive on the 550. 4 dedicated snows will go on it anyway. I don't drive thru a foot or more of snow everyday. You would want the pleasure & performance of the sport transmission as it will most likely be used on dry roads about 95% of the year. Just my 2 cents.

Out here in Seattle snow is a rare thing, although it does occur. I wouldn't buy xdrive just for that. The periodic road trips to Montana make a better case, but I used to do it in far less capable vehicles and managed ok. If I lived in an area that was guaranteed a good amount of snow every year, I might change my mind on that. Either that or not drive that car on the worst days and drive something else better suited to the snow.
