The difference in looks between the M3 and RS5 is that the M3 looks athletic and lean while the RS5 looks big, imposing and aggressive like a GTR. The RS5 looks and size is more in line with the M6.

Generally you like one or the other but seldom both.

I'm surprised at the amount of hate towards the aluminum accents. I think they make the car look far more upscale than the M3, and it's not like they're done without taste.

I don't hate them, I just prefer something more aggressive than "upscale". I really don't like bling on a car, even if it's well done. To me, it either feminizes, or yuppifies a car.

I like the old rs4 way better. Although the car does not look bad at all with the black trim.

Actually, after coming from an S5, I thought I would like the RS more than I do. It looks a bit disjointed to me. Not very good flow from certain angles.

To each their own. I don't think it's feminine or yuppie-like in any way. It lets you know it's an RS model, which always included aluminum accents (wing mirrors, grille slats). They just took it to another level. Low set aluminum accents are going to become the new trend, just as oversized black graphics (giant faux diffusers, fake massive brake ducts and grilles) have been dying down somewhat. Mercedes has adopted this with their new models, Audi is doing it with their new RS models, Land Rover is doing it with its new Evoque, and Porsche is starting to do it with their high-end Panamera and Cayenne models.

I think Mercedes, and customers of the Cayenne and Panamera are a certain demographic that may warm to aluminum bling.

But the badge, sound, and aggressive kit are enough for me to know it's an RS5.

Agreed.
If I were to buy this car, I'd definately replace the aluminum exterior trim wtih the optic black one instead. I'd repaint the mirrors to match the colour of the car cuz the silver mirrors looks stupid to me.

No it's Sepang Blue which is a deeper blue than Sprint Blue. It's actually nicer in my eyes.

Sepang Blue top, Sprint Blue bottom.

Yeah Sepang Bronze is another nice colour

though if you are into brown tints I think Nordic Gold is unbeatable.

Only thing is that these unusual colour aren't to everyone's taste and this will effect it's resale value dramatically.

Sepang Bronze is a very elegant color that can work on everything from a 7er to an M car. Nordic Gold seems too flamboyant and is too orange for me. If I could have any BMW (or sedan from any manufacturer while you're at it), it would be a Sepang Bronze M5

Point proven about these colours, it's all personal taste and when you go for unusual colours not everyone will agree on what's nice and what's not which is a crying shame because almost every car I see today is a shade of grey..........boring.

Browns seem to be in again with all the manufacturers at the moment another nice brown in the Java brown on the new Touareg.
