Hi all, for quite some time I have been wanting to put an F10 M5 cluster onto my F10 535i. I’ve seen threads that it is possible but requires a lot of coding and emulation (iirc. issues because the gear positioning is different on M vs. non-M)

But, I am wondering if it is possible/an easier retrofit to put in a X5 or X6 M cluster. I think it would be easier because both of these cars (535i & X5/6M) have the ZF-8 speed, same as 535i, instead of DCT.

So in theory, would it be possible and easier than retrofitting a M5 cluster? And if so, I would love get help on how I would go about this.

Problem is not the transmission. It’s the gear shift selector. You will need to install the M5 gear selector in order for the M5 instrument cluster to work properly. No need for emulator, just a few extra wires for gear selector and coding.

How about for the x5m cluster?

It’s the same as M5/M6/X6M

Speedometer M5/6 will not work normally at 528/535/550/640/650 and so on. Even if it is coded and programmed correctly. I tried making the speedometer virgin, removing the mileage and Vin from the eeprom. The main problem is that every time you turn on the ignition, your mileage will increase by 10-15 miles.

Very aware of this, thats why I was asking if the M suv cluster would work because it has similar specs to a regular non M F10

An almost pointless idea + this zone will not work, there will be empty space

I have done this on mine, and the mileage will go up by 8 miles each time unless you solder your OEM chips onto the M5/M6 cluster. There is no other way.

I have mine coded and all, it works absolutely 100% perfect even show efficient dynamics (while a useless gauge) it's not blank at least. It does have comfort-sport-sport plus as well that you can turn on in the navigation display unit.

hello, can you provide more details on how to proceed for correct functionality. Have you installed the M shifter? What wires have you installed and what codes?

I had mine working 100%, even those zones work and you can also display efficient dynamics there if you want. You would just turn it off in the nav screen, which requires coding the cluster and Navigation unit.

You have to take the two EPROM chips from your cluster and move them to M5, that's step one. Then all else is coding, it can be done for sure.
