What is the difference?

I have a 2011 535i M-Sport which means my car is equipped with DDC (I think). I believe if your suspension settings go from Comfort->Normal->Sport->Sport+ then you have DDC. Please correct me if I am wrong. So my question is when I put the car in Sport mode and have Sport mode configured to tune both my chassis and drivetrain settings I can feel the suspension tighten and the transmission usually kicks down a gear and the shift patterns become more aggressive. What I am trying to figure out is if I am in Sport mode and then I move the gear selector to the manual/sport gate on my sport automatic transmission, the gearshifts seem to become even more aggressive. What is the difference between the two transmission settings???

Yes, you have the full Adaptive Drive (DDC) package.

My 535i does the same as you describe. Also if you configure without drivetrain checked in iDrive and are running sport mode, a change to Sport+ mode the gears will drop as the sport gearbox program takes over.

Here's my observation.

OK, so I'm in sport mode travelling along at 50 - 60mph, with drivetrain+chassis configured ahead of switching to sport, (or can do it real time as the display comes up and I have the option to configure). I have noted the gearbox change down to 7th on switching to sport mode, and the throttle becomes more sensitive. Now I flick the stick across to DS and the gearbox changes down another gear, I'm now in 6th. So there is a change in the programming. If I'm in sport with the stick in D and then go to sport+ and I flick to DS, the same happens, it drops to 6th again. I also note if I'm in normal mode and flick the stick it will drop the 2 gears in one go.
There certainly are some differences, but how that alters the shift points and shift speed I'm yet to fully discover.
