Why has my steering wheel lost grip?

Strangely my 2011 F10 530D M SPORT without paddles has an odd shiny texture to the steering wheel.

It is noticeably less Grippy and rather more shiny and feels a bit old.

I have enquired with re wrapping companies as i prefer the holey M Sport Steering wheel leather.

How are yours?

Warranty???

It's oil and dirt from your hands. Where have you been putting them? lol

Anyway, try using a leather cleaner for a while. If there's lots of caked on oil, it might take a couple tries.

Have you ever cleaned your steering wheel? Our bodies naturally produce oil and it rubs off onto the steering wheel.

Have you ever seen an Alcantara steering wheel after 10k-20k and no cleaning?

It's because you don't take the necessary measures to maintain the leather. The shininess is from the oils and other crap on your hands. Get an all purpose cleaner and a terry towel and make a about 10 passes using a clean part of the towel each time.

I just cleaned my M wheel with a leather cleaner the other day and it made wonders to the look and feel. It's like new again.

Amazing - well I have some interesting thoughts. I did read that the steering wheel is the dirtiest thing. I sometimes wipe it with anti bac. And maybe the Polish have put something on it.

I have some leather cleaner called Bulldog or something which I can try or the autoglym... Yes it could be some silicone.

I am excited to try it.

I have tried rubbing it with a little wet finger and sometimes I literally have to spit on my hands and rub them together to get grip on the wheel.

Meths?

Looking around it seems you could be right..... I shall report back - BMW are rarely argumentative about changing things. Hence why I have one
