Typo on BMW USA?
On the BMW US website, the 528i under standard options there is listed ''Electronic limited-slip differential'' in the handling section. Is this true or is it a typo as only M cars have lsds?
Here's the link : http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...and_Specs.aspx Thanks |

Electronic Limited Slip Differential means that they use a combination of single wheel braking and engine power reduction to minimize single wheel spin.
It is not a mechanical device like a true LSD. I am hoping someone will make a real LSD for the 5 series, but so far, I have not found one for my 550. I might be able to swap out something from the M5, but it also means a lot of other parts too, not just a drop in replacement. |

Yep, BMW use an E-Diff in their Series cars, which works in conjunction with DSC and EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution) which basically brakes the inside wheel to stop it spinning up like a standard diff would.
The E-Diff also locks up when DSC is completely off so you can hoon!
