impressed with 530d fuel consumption
Just got to say that I'm impressed with the 530d's fuel consumption.
Now I know its not going to be as frugal as a 520d but coming from a E39 530i which got me around 20mpg around town and up to around 35mpg (UK)on gentle motorways , this is great. Around town I seem to be getting around 35mpg and have seen just over 50mpg on motorways. Only 300+ miles on the clock so far and the engine feels like its loosening up now a bit and I'm sure this will improve but incredible all the same. |

well I'm still running in so not really pushing the car. Have put it in sport and there is a very noticable difference in performance. Being careful though as I don't want to exceed 3500rpm but at the same time don't think its good to drive so sedately.
Once run in I'm sure my consumption figures will not be so great as I start to take advantage of the effortless power. |

well as an experiment I drove about 30 miles on motorways at at steady 60mph and before leaving the motorway I just got the fuel consumption average up to 60mpg. Obviously this drop to low 50s by the time i got home via urban roads.
Simply amazing ,either that or the computer is not stating the truth! Seem reasonable though and looks liek realistically I'll be getting 600 miles out of tank give or take. Average now over nearly 800 miles is 37mpg. Quite amazing for a car knocking on the door of 2 tons with a 3 litre engine. |
