18" is not worth it. 20" maybe too big. so i say 19".
the choice of tires affects the ride as well.

get the 19" if you want a smooth ride, but honestly they still look a bit small. 20" will look aggressive with the low profile tires. it's a matter of personal preference.

are you getting your car by Jan? If you want to get made to order wheels you better order soon. I already ordered mine on Oct.

I got the Forgestar which is made to order in US. 2 months lead time. Flow formed which is almost good as forged but less expansive. Most rims you get with cheaper price are cast which is heavy and not as strong.

Check out the shop at the end of Ching Fung Street, Tin Hau

That sound nice. Where n when are u guys meeting ?

I orignally ordered my 523i with the electric screen option in Sept. for a Nov. production n Jan. delivery. However, they just notified me there will be a delay n push my production month to Dec. for Feb. or March delivery. I did not like that arrangement n asked for a refund.

Then, they offered me a stock(maybe somebody cancel their order) 523i with Premium package(extra $50,000), with some option I don't even need.

I have to decide in a day or 2 if i want to take up this offer. What do u guys think ???

Also, I did check with the tire store. They said they will take my new set of 17" for $4000 as trade-in for a set of 18", either Style#329 at $17,000 or #328 at $15,000. I think these 2 sets are probably from some of the guy in this forum.

Are they offering you the 523i executive or 523i? What options are they offering you with the premium package? And how much total cost?

None of our HK members here have 18" or may be steven only who does not appear here often. $4000 is the usual offer for 17" trade in. IMO, if swap, at least 19". No point to swap from 17" to 18" as there will not be any difference visually. FYI, I eventually went with the 20".

The Premium package include the rear camera, Sunshade, rear trunk n the sunroof. Also, I originally order the Oyster interior n the stock one is Grey. Any comment?

I also think 18" will not be a big difference from 17". But with 19 or 20", will it be too much for the 523i with the smaller engine.

It is the 523i executive with the Premium package that they offer me now. Is the car that soughtafter ? Because I don't see too many on the road while I live n work near Central.

The premium package seems to be good if they offer it free. I will take the stock if I am in your case. I would like to have the rear camera, rear trunk if they don't charge me an arm and a leg.

Wheel size doesn't really matter by the engine. It is the appearance and ride comfort that you need to consider. May need to consider if you go for wider wheels as it will affect your speed and handling.

True that we don't see many F10 in HK for the time being. May be people are all waiting just like me.

BTW, what color is the stock that they offer you?

Not for free but $50,000 extra for total $578,000 !!!

Sophisto Grey which was what i originally ordered.

They also mention a 3% price increase for next year production. Do u think it is bad idea to take a 2010 model now in Nov.. ?

the F10 is sought after hence your long waiting time.. all the slots are taken.
for the in stock one. make sure it is not a demo or show room car.. and make sure you can live with the color combo for the next few years.. waiting a couple more months may not be all that bad if you can get the color you want.

and i think wheel size does affect acceleration a bit as bigger rims normally carry more unsprung weight.

50k after tax?? i'd get that option if i were you. but i probably won't take the in stock car. and you should demand some compensation for the delay!

Yes, the Premium package is $50,000 including tax. The compensation is they are offering u a stock now.

It is a brand new one, not demo or show car.

IMHO, $50k for premium package that you don't need may be not that attractive. You can get the 528i for $598k and I rather have the 528i.

Bigger rims does not necessary contribute more unsprung weight. It depends on the kind of rims. Forged and flow formed rims are much lighter than the OEM rims which are cast. So you need to pick the right rims in terms of performance and appearance.

i wouldn't take the gray if i were you too. the oyster is so much more elegant than the gray.

but the 528 doesn't have a sunroof to begin with.. the premium package is not expensive if you break it down.. the sunroof, rear view camera and auto tailgate are very useful when you have them.. he wants the sunshade.. rear view camera and sunroof if bought along are almost 40k after tax already??

yea if you are going to keep the car for a few years i would wait for the color you really want.

but the 523 executive doesn't have paddle shift, blue tooth and i forgot what else. if compare the two, i definitely will choose the 528 without sunroof, $20k more, than the 523 executive with premium package. paddle shift is too fun to miss.

depends if you want the comforts of the premium pack, all of those are good options if you like them. is it 50k for sunroof+shade+camera+tailgate ? if that many, and u like, then worth it
I don't need any of those options, and 528+paddles is much more important to me so for me its obvious

Thanks for all the input. I have decided to take up the stock offer since I think my old 520i is worth more now than in 5 months. Also there will be more new 5 on the road while more people will trade in their old 5s.

My current 5 is with the Grey seat n both me n wife still love it, even though we know the new Oyster color is nicer.

Now we go back to the wheel. I think the 18" #329 will look good on the 523i, however, is there anything out there within the $20,000 budget that will be much better ?
