Painting lower bumper mesh on M-Sport?

I recently replaced the factory grills on my Sophisto Grey 550 M-Sport with Gloss Black ones and love the look.

However, now I think the more matte lower mesh looks a bit out of place.

Has anyone ever painted theirs? Did you DIY or take it to a paint shop? Happy with the results or look?

i was thinking about the same issue. So i ended up taking off the lower grills and fog light grills and painting them my self with a black gloss paint. made a huge difference. super easy to do. just pull them off and after the paint is dry snap them back on.

My friend has done it on his m6. Looks really good. Was considering doing it at a paint shop, but might just try to do it myself.

Did you use black paint straight over the plastic or did you use a plastic primer first?

I'll post some pics in a few hours. I just painted it with straight black gloss car paint. 2 coats and it looked great.

Won't that peel off over time... maybe something like plastikote would be more suitable.

Any problems getting them in or out? I've never removed mine before.

I was planning a couple coats of gloss black followed by a couple of clear hopefully for better durability.

No problems getting the in or out.

i just found the gloss black paint did a great job, don't expect it to peel and if it fades after the winter or something, i will just refresh it with another coat

I painted mine gloss black a few months ago, but after a run-away tire hitting the lower part of my bumper knocking out the center grille onto the highway and after a few cars running over it, I needed to re do it. On the other grilles by the fog lights, I was starting to see rock chips which annoyed me . I decided to go back to the matte black color and It was the best thing I could've done. IMHO matte > gloss black (from a guy who had both). I'll try to find some old pics///

I also painted mine gloss black and then sprayed several thin coats of automotive clear coat over that, it's been a couple of years and they still look great. Never regretted it.
