F10 Presale Inspection: What to look for

Hi folks, can you share areas to focus on as I look for a clean, gently used F10. Besides the usual, are there any areas specific to the F10 that need an extra look?

This particular 2011 535i xdrive has a manufacture date of July 2011. Is this date after the initial MY2011/2012 issues were worked out?

Any common areas for rattling?

Also wondering what the threshold is for normal wear and tear items on certified cars. For instance, does the dealer have to replace curbed wheels or only refinish? What is an acceptable level of brake wear? Tire wear? I understand these are all normal use items and I don't expect to get brand new with a used car, but I also expect that the certification means that certain items will be replaced/refurbished prior to sale/ as part of certification. Please advise.

TIA

I don't really know how up to date this list is, but you can download one here.

You'll just have to trust the dealer and hope all items in the checklist were checked and criteria met. Some are better than others when certifying cars, but all will try to keep their cost as low as possible. Buying locally helps, you can go back quickly and revisit things if not entirely happy within first few weeks.

That's very helpful, thanks. I wonder if I can request a copy of the checklist from the dealer in advance.

Just an FYI, when I purchased my CPO 2011 535I Xdrive last year, I made the them give me new tires, new brakes and rotors and they installed new battery prior to the sale.

First, I would make sure there's no dead hookers in the trunk or bricks of coke in the wheel well.

I always recommend using an ultraviolet light to looks for signs of blood. At least in the trunk.

I fully recognize not everyone is as concerned about this issue anymore. . .

I actually heard a case where a gun was left in under the back seat.

A convicted fellon bought the car. He can't have s gun.

The gun was found during a routine traffic stop.

Once the cops determined the driver was fellon they searched the car.

They found the gun.

The gun was registered to the former owner of the car.

The lower court convicted the poor guy. It wasn't his gun.

Not sure what the appellate court did.
