Whats the alternative? Every 5. year? I think its good BMW brings us new technology as fast as possible. And I think its a smart strategy to test it out in vehicles like 6 and 7 series which are produced in relatively small numbers before its offered in 5 and 3 series.

Not a lot of information on "3d color hud bmw" but I did find this mock up at www.bmwcoop.com

That's very close to what my HUD already does. Maybe the Nav part looks a little better, but it looks pretty much the same to me.

Sorry, I find your whining totally absurd and ridiculous.

You are throwing a fit because the model next year has more updated features than yours???
So depriving new owners of best equipment possible would somehow make you feel better?

I find this mind boggling.

In contrary, I am thrilled that BMW would implement new technology as soon as possible instead of waiting for facelift or major model year change. That's the best way to keep up or stay ahead of its competitor.

I'm really dissappointed at the current "black panal" on the 5. The full black panael should have been implemented from the beginning. The way it is now is pretty ugly at night with a off center black box.

I know I'm in the minority here but I kinda like the current set-up with the real gauges and the lcd box for vehicle info and warnings. The completely black panel LCD set up looks.....well kinda Japanese/Lexus-like IMO. Not that there's anything wrong with that

1) 530d and 535i with xdrive -> ok can live with this as it is a not a change but an addition to the model line-up
2) HUD in colour as we know from the new 6 serires -> hmmm, interesting but not fuming it.
3) 530d with 258hp (for x-drive only, RWD will have the 245hp engine) -> ok I am getting a bit mad since my car (that is only 3 weeks old) is going to lose out big time on value because of this change
4) extended blackpanel as we know it from the 7 series and GT - why the F(§$ could not implement this change when they introduced the full black panel for the GT -> FUMING

Combox, IMHO, is a much bigger deal than the black screen.

BMWs with combox can:
1) Bluetooth streaming (A2DP) from cell phones,
2) SMS/Text display from phones supporting mobile office protocol
3) Single USB connection to iPod with album arts
4) internet access via cell phone
etc

The black screen may look cool, but adds very little useable feature/info display......

Man that would be a real gift if they did. Mine is a week 49 build and I'll pick it up tomorrow. I'll let you know.

I think it will just be the engine from the 123d or X23d. So 204 hp , I guess.
This will give a different between current 520d 2 liter and 525d 3 liter.
But I'm only guessing, but this would make sense.

Actually, it does not. Go and check one out in a 7 series or GT in the dealership. It really is very nice.

The main advantage is that the info can be spaced out nicely instead of bunched up in a small area. This is more apparent in navigation info displaying, and you get much larger graphics. And you also get the nice red lines background complementing the interior ambient lighting.
