Test drove the Q60s Redsport Today

The beginning of this summer I scheduled to test drive the Q60s redsport the day of arrival... which was today! For those who don't know a little about the car its a 400 hp V6 twin turbo nissan engine. First impressions: the exterior absolutely beautiful I mean car just looks very aggressive. Thats what really caught my eye. The interior was okay (nothing compared to the 5 series) however I do think the seats are a little bit more comfortable but still dont have half the options our seats do... The technology as well lacked compared to the 5 series. Little to no space in the back of the car one of my passengers had a very uncomfortable time. Okay heres the major downer for me... It has 400 hp but it feels so slow. My 528xi thats has around 300 hp would completely destroy this thing in a 1/4 mile. I feel like from a 40 to 100 I would take this thing as well. All round I would rate the car 6/10 and would definitely consider this a downgrade from my 528xi. However in 2 years the amount of available modifications for this car would be crazy.

I saw the Q60 at the LA Autoshow and it did look nice. Definitely Infiniti has had a nice re-design on all their line ups. It reminds me a little of the Lexus RC Coupe. I agree with you that Infiniti felt sluggish. The lack of power is especially felt in the SUVs. Handling, performance and overall design still goes to BMW in my book but then again there is a price difference. The F10 is one tough sports sedan to beat.

I drove the Ghibli S Q4 that feels like 400hp with proper noise.

I'm a big BMW homer but c'mon man. Motor Trend tested the sedan version of the Q60s Redsport and clocked a 0-60 time of 4.5s and a 1/4 mile time of 13.0s at 109.2 mph. Those numbers are just shy of the 550i's performance so I really doubt your car pushing almost 300hp would destroy this thing.

That being said, the Q60 would be a downgrade from a 5 series since the Q60 competes more with the 3/4 series.

I drove it man... it just doesn't have that push and that feeling that my 528 gives me.... I rescheduled a test drive this morning maybe the second time might be a little better

I'll have to do a little more research on this car since I don't know to much about it?

Don't get me wrong, I love the 528. I think the transmission in the 528 is programmed better than in the 550. The transmission in the 528 seems to react much quicker which keeps the engine in the meat of the power band where it seems like BMW just assumed the massive power of the engine in the 550 didn't require a more responsive transmission. The transmission combined with the lower curb weight of the 528 makes the 528 a much nimbler driving car than the 550.

After having both a Nissan Altima and a Maxima, I would never buy a Nissan again. They were both very dependable cars but were coma inducing boring and the NVH from their V6s was embarrassing compared to BMW engines.

My buddy has a maxima he absolutely loves it but the CVT transmission just kills the fun.... one of my other major disappointments is the sound! Im having a really hard time trying to figure out how to upload a video so if anyone can help id like to show a small clip that I have

I rented a Q70 a few weeks back on a business trip to Seattle. That thing is a dog! The interior is crap and the engine is severely lacking some balls. I do understand it was a rental, but it was fully loaded and couldn't touch my 550 in any way. Even with the driving mode selector switch in "Sport" it just felt underpowered. I actually like the Ford Fusion Titanium w/Eco-Boost over the Q70 for a rental car choice.

How Nissan thinks the Q70 competes with the Audi A6, BMW 5 series, or Mercedes E-class is a complete mystery. Hopefully Nissan is offering LARGE discounts on the Q70.
