How to remove lower grill insert

I am wanting to remove the lower grills (two fog light grills and center) on my 2013 M Sport for some cleaning and maybe a painting. Do I have to remove them from the rear or just pry and pull and hope the clips don't break off.

There's a DIY on how to do it. You can pull them but in sections

I know on my 335 I had to take the front bumper off to properly remove them with out breaking clips.

I think one diy here states you need to remove the fender liner or removing the bumper but I was able to take it out without removing either. If you have a trim tool, you can carefully find the attachment point and start pulling on the grill white wedging the trim tool in to unclip the clips. Do it slowly but it will require some force to get out.

I removed mine following the DIY on here, read the entire thread and you don't have to remove the trim. It took me 15 minutes.
