Whining sound when backing up
Had my 2013 535i M Sport for about a month now. It’s a CPO and I am beginning to notice two things. It makes a whining sound when I am backing up. It doesn’t make the sound if it’s in reverse and my foot is on the brake only when the car is moving. The other is after starting the car it shakes for about 3-5 seconds. It doesn’t shake every time but appears to happen more frequently now. It occurs when the car is cold or warm/hot. I have about 37,000 miles on the car. Should I take it in and let them see if any codes are being thrown.

Yeah have it fixed under warranty for sure. Reserve that loaner and let them do the rest.

A low level whine when backing up is normal. I've had that shaking on startup twice, but it never happened again. Others have mentioned it as well. Best to get it checked out if it happens with any regularity.
