Next E-Class Interior
Just spotted this article showing the next generation E-Class interior earlier today. TBH I haven't made up my mind yet on whether I like it.
I like the fact that the screen is not like an iPad stuck on the dash and judging by the interior quality of a C-Class loaner I recently had I think materials, fit and finish will be top notch... Not sure how that dual screen will look up close though. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/cars/merc...erior/?ref=yfp

Sorry just plain ugly... too many curves... layout makes no sense... I'd rather stick to the minimalist design approach of BMWs...

If the new 5 ends up with a similar design as the new 7 (which I have to believe is likely), then I think the this E-class will have a more attractive interior. Right now I like the C-class better interior better than the 3-series even thought I still prefer the 3 series overall (exterior design and driving characteristics). I'm glad Mercedes went the way of the S-class with the media screen rather than the i-pad look of the C-class. Maybe this is an indication that the "i-pad look" trend is coming to an end?

Looks like the S-class I guess.

It's as convoluted as it gets; front and rear doors don't even have continuity; weird. New E-Class interior is far superior visually and aesthetically, unfortunate for BMW. Last edited by dbs600; 12-14-2015 at 09:36 PM.. |

Don’t like the missing gear stick like Range Rovers, I also think the iPad element is even worst here in fact look like my desk at work with 2 screens, maybe Merc aimed at the Laptop + main screen effect!
But need to see it in real I guess! |

All of the design choices here seem ideal for the E-class and its customer base, distinguishing the E-class as a luxury cabin and not driver-focused.
Fortunately the standard sound system sticks with black speaker grills, reducing the obnoxious level of shiny - look at me I paid for an expensive sound system - metal with the Burmester system. (http://autotrends.my/wp-content/uplo...s-class_14.jpg) Sadly there does not appear to be an option for something less shiny and scratch/fingerprint prone than the black plastic on the center console. (The C-class is far better in this regard with the optional wood as the center console touch point in lieu of plastic.) And there's that big hulking flat panel. I get it, this is technology marching forward. But there had to be a better way to integrate this. How about losing the vestigial shroud altogether? Or fading the edges to clear to emphasize the "floating" effect?

The new E class interior will be a game changer for Mercedes, it just catapult itself above BMW and Audi as far as interior design. I believe the one piece screen for the gauge cluster and the info screen is an industrial first. BMW and Audi will have some catching up to do.

I think the interior looks fantastic, especially compared to the trash that's in the current generation! Hopefully the exterior won't be as painful to look at as most of their lineup

I think it looks very attractive. It will play well to those who want a very luxurious interior. Mercedes does a nice job paying attention to little details when it comes to interior design.
