I am considering the RD springs for my black F10 with X Drive and MSport. Do you know if they work on the X Drive model as well? Have 19" M Wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sports being installed on April 25th. Appreciate any feedback.

I think you should try them out for the rest of the X Drive owners out there that are wondering the same thing

I'm almost positive the RD springs will work on the Xdrive.

How has the lower suspension interacted with the adaptive drive? Any thoughts or insight would be welcome as I am strongly considering this for not only its cosmetic appeal but a performance improvement as well. I have never lowered a car and any pros and cons are welcome as well. Thanks.
Hi Delvek,

I never lowered a car myself either, but for cosmetic reasons I took the plunge and ordered the ACS lowering set (4 springs, 25 mm shorter and a bit stiffer). After inspecting a few F10s at the local dealership, I decided that my car definitely needed a drop.
The other reason was that I suspected the ride to be too soft for my taste. That is, specced with adaptive drive.

I've never driven my 535d without this mod, so I cannot make that comparison. However, I can compare the F10 with my e92 330d, e92 335d and e87 130i (all on the M-sport suspension).
I consider myself a bit of a snob when it comes to judging how a car handles. So let me tell you: the ride is fantastic. Of course it is big car but I'm pretty sure I can do the same crazy stuff with the F10 as I did with my e92's.
One important benefit of the ACS springs is that it makes the "normal" mode within adaptive drive enjoyable. So, I toggle between sport and normal mode all the time. To me, both modes represent the classic BMW feel. Normal mode is less nervous and perfect when cruising with ACC in heavy traffic.
Comfort mode still is rubbish even with this set. Makes the car ride like a citroen

This was my first mod also. I was always scared to mess with an expensive car as I didn't want to mess it up, but I also wanted to make it steer and ride like my previous car after spending so much money on a new and improved model.

After attempting this with H&R springs which I didn't like because they were too low and the ride was bad, I tried the RD springs which I like much better. Edwin, I wish I could ride in your car to see how your car rides compared to mine.

I was I had my complete '08 550i M-sport suspension -- stock springs and struts on my F10 550i. The suspension was perfect. My RD sport springs are about 20% stiffer than stock, but I wish the struts and springs were as stiff as my previous car. With the F10 suspension, you feel the extra weight in the softer suspension, and the light steering of course. With the extra 400 pounds and the softer suspension, it makes it feel much heavier than that.

Everything else about my 550 is perfect. Hopefully, if enough people complain about the soft suspension and light steering on the F10, they'll change it back and you'll have a perfect 5 series without the mods. I guess you can't have everything.

Thank you Edwin for your post. After driving a demo Schnitzer ACS5 car twice I have come to the decision to do the springs. I almost have 2k km's, getting ready to schedule the work for May.

I am also seriously considering the ACS exhaust system, gives it a nice throaty sound that is a bit lacking on such a powerful car. Plus I am told gives a slight boost to performance.

Anyway, when it is done I will chime in!

Anyone in Northern Virginia installed the RD Sport Springs on a DHP / M Sport Car? Looking to take a ride to get impressions.

Hey Cidair how did the ACSchnitzer springs work for you. My dealer has ordered them for me and expecting them soon. I am having the ACS springs and exhaust installed. Just waiting on them to come out with an ECU, I prefer working with ACS and its warranty/relationship locally here in Germany with BMW.

Will do, taking a day trip tomorrow then off to BMW for a few days in the shop for post delivery minor fixes and ACS springs and exhaust. Plan on posting pics and if I can figure it out a sound clip.

I just bought a 550i with X-Drive and the M package.
I see many people post messages that they prefer the RD springs to the H&R springs. I have searched the internet for RD springs and can’t find any information on them.
Can you tell who manufactures the springs or post a link to where you ordered them from?
Thanks..

I believe they are manufactured in Germany. You can try the Racing Dynamics website at racdyn.com
