Yeah, an automatic 996 Cab would be as dull a choice as you could make. I'm certainly a fan of 997 coupes, but a 996 would have to be a GT3 to make me interested.

a 996tt will make you never get back into that z4m again
I'm sure it's a great drive and youre prob right but I can't get past the dated interior. the headlights don't even bother me as much as the interior.

Agree on the interior, it's boring. I don't really care that much though; I'm more about the controls and driving experience. All I really need is half decent seats.

trade your z4 for a z4m coupe with the s54.

yes the interior is a bit dated, that is easily rectified with a steering wheel, new headunit etc. I get it.......i havent done much to my 996tt interior other than CF and accessories, but its has 1000hp so thats what i use it for....

i love the z4m coupe, im grabbing a roadster for south FL myself!

goodluck

I have one of those. I'm not getting rid of it any time soon.

I'm still looking, pretty much settled on convertible or targa ($$) at this point. C4 or C4S would be interesting but a C2 would be fine too.

But then there is the SL500 nearby also...

I drove a 2002 C4 cab 6spd this morning. Very nice example, low miles, new tires. Interesting 'sport' seat option; comfort-wise they make the seats in my M look pretty sad by comparison, adjustment-wise they are a hodgepodge of electric and manual.

This car was _much_ nicer than the 2000 C2 cab I drove. I really liked the subtle additions the AWD make to the driving dynamics; I mean, I'm not flogging any of these cars so I'm not talking about tenths at the limit here, just overall weightiness and the little nudge when you squirt a bit of gas coming around a turn. It doesn't hurt that C4 cabs are the bottom of the barrel in the eyes of the Porschista either; keeps prices reasonable.

I am definitely going to get me one of these. Maybe not the one I drove today, but one from somewhere, reasonably soon. Gonna be a top down summer.

I have driven a number of 911s and where they defeat the Z4M is in terms of general refinement and suspension feel. The Z4M is a sometimes needlessly harsh chassis and the 911 tends to stay planted while shielding the driver from every single road undulation. Porsche build quality is renown, but it also comes at a slightly higher replacement part tax.

The only 996 platform cars worth looking at are the Turbo and GT3 variants - everything else is just not worth the money.
