Flat Run Flat Ride Quality = Inflated Run Flat Ride Quality
Shortly after leaving my dealer, I received a low right rear tire pressure message, and by the time I got home, the tire was flat!
This was my first experience with driving with a flat run flat, but I must say I now know why the ride quality of run flats are so bad… There's next to no difference in ride quality between a flat and an inflated run flat!? While handling is somewhat compromised up to 50 mph and obviously compromised above same, the ride quality is no worse!? I couldn’t believe it! |

yes agree/ I've had 2 punctures , both to the rear right tyre. (19 inch)
The last time I did exceed the recommendation of no more than 50 miles / 50mph and actually covered around 400 miles up to motorway speeds. If you look at a flat tyre, it is very difficult to tell looking at it that its flat, in fact only by comparing with the other tyres is it seen , and only then its subtle. I found ride quality to be the same as you did but did find that the car would 'slide' on corners a little. Just feel a little unstable. Based upon that , the benefits that it offers are tremendous but the downside is that the ride is no where as good as conventional tyres. |
