2013 550i m-sport suspension hits bumps like crazy, shake after, please help

car has 7k miles on it if there is any connection in the road i feel it hard just started happening, bumps cause the car to jump up and there is always a follow up noise after the usual hitting bump noise

also if its a big pot hole it feels like its going to rip the wheel out of the car.

right side makes the noise more then left and its from the front.

but pretty much every bump sends the car wobbling and causes vibration after the bump,

any help please

Drive straight to dealership. Honk horn outside service bay door. Surrender car to dealer service representative (it may be unsafe). Jockey for a loaner.

Hope you get her sorted. Best wishes...

Most likely something wrong with your shock if the car is bouncy. If there is something wrong with the spring (broken) or out of carriage you should be able to see it from the wheel well.

I have a 535i msport and it feels the same way since new. I guess I'll get it checked out. I thought this just the way it was. Maybe it is. The car definitely jumps and feels disconnected when you hit a pothole.

My 550i M-Sport did the same thing, but completely went away when I got no run-flats. My Michelin PS2's have been great ever since. Run-flats with their stiff sidewalls ride very rigid.

My 535 just soaks up bumps and potholes and gives a really smooth ride, even with the RFTs (Pirelli P7). Probably the variable dampers at work

I suspect NYC streets have already pounded your suspension (RFTs or not) into oblivion! Don't be surprised if your dealer lays the damage / repair on your credit card!

can't tell if OP is saying suspension is hard or woobly since he's mentioning both. maybe another case of shipping block still in suspension?

I have the Dunlop RFTs and same experience with the dynamic dampers; really sorts out the ride on bad roads. If its still rough throw it in Comfort + :-)

Here in Norway we have bad roads with lots of bumps. In Europe we can book cars with M-sport package with standard springs that are much more comfortable. But I ordered the adaptive damper control, which is very good. My advice is to replace the spring to the standard set up

We have pretty bad pot holes here in Boston. I dont have the adpative suspension, but I am on oem 18" Conti runflats. The ride is smooth as can be, almost Luxury sedan like.

I have to agree that BMW's choice of Goodyear LS2's was a horrible selection for the M-Sport, for that matter the 5 series! After having my suspension checked at the dealership and then by my performance tuner, I purchased a baby floor jack, spare wheel and went with a set of Toyo Proxes4 Plus tires! The car now rides and handles like a dream after switching from touring to performance tires.

Have the dealership check your suspension then dump those Goodyears!

This

Bumps? If by this you mean potholes, big cracks on pavement, unevenness between concrete slabs, etc. then I second Vinfast in quote above. The main characteristic of the run flats (any runflat) is the CRASHING of the suspension when you hit those "bumps". It feels like the whole suspension is falling to pieces and dropping to the ground. What you are experiencing is "normal" - get rid of the run flats and your problem will disappear. The Michelin Pilot Super Sport is a great tire and highly recommended by everyone.

We had the Goodyear LS2 non runflat on my wife's Audi Q5. They were horrible even in the non runflat version. They are very bumpy over uneven roads, terrible snow traction and the thread wear. From what I have read, sidewall construction is a design flaw.

Yes, the early versions were prone to bubbling up when you hit the slightest road imperfection. Goodyear's 2nd generation LS2 is a better tire with regards to preventing sidewall bubbles but the ride is still terrible!

Anyone know when this newer gen of LS2 was released?

For transportation BMW install little springs bumper at all four corners. Maybe they forgot to remove these which can be your problem.
