I just changed mine from 1045 to 1042. The car was reading a tad low. What's so nice about this is it is easy and takes no time to do. A few adjustments and you can get it locked in to read correctly.

Guys, post some more info so it'll be easier to compare:
1) AC on? 2) Sport or Comfort mode? 3) gas octane rating? Brand? 4) heavy foot? 5) city/ highway split 6) proper tire pressure 7) passengers/ loaded trunk? etc. Copy and paste, add whatever you feel is relevant: I get about 17 mpg (always refill when reserve fuel warning comes on) 1) I have AC on year-round 2) Comfort 90% of the time 3) BP 93 - always 4) no, but floor it here and there for fun or when needed 5) 85% city/ 15% highway - lot of swerving/ braking in NYC traffic and to avoid potholes/ cabs 6) I run 35 front/ 39 back 7) empty trunk/ no cargo, one passenger 50% of the time |

Love this car on the open road...

Had my best tank recently which was 41 MPG (UK) which is 34 US. Mostly 75-80 MPH motorway cruise on a long road trip to a couple of big classic car shows. A/C was most definitely busy because it was 32C (about 90F).

2013 535xDrive Sedan recent road trip fuel economy
This was about 325 miles of I95 from S. NJ to and through Washington DC and about 75 miles of tooling around DC on an extended July 4th weekend - that really is a ton of stop and no-go traffic. That's why my avg speed ~ 42mph. I topped off with Sunoco Ultra when I left on this trip and didn't need to refill until I got home.
Managed lots of 70-75 mph cruising and probably would have eeked out a few more MPG's were it not for slow and stopped traffic everywhere on a holiday weekend. All in all, not too shabby for a "new" car (2013 xDrive 535/4000 mi) with a moderate load of luggage, driver and passenger. On similar trips with my '07 530xi I usually achieved 30-31 MPG. So, considering the newness of the engine and drive train, added weight, and the occasional exploitation of a sweet power train this isn't Prius fuel economy BUT
