Hi - the console surface in the F10 gets these very thin scratches. It's hard to avoid them. They appear even when using anything but a microfiber clothe to wipe the surface clean or to dust it off.
Has anyone found a way/ product to buff them out? |

any mild polish will do. PlastiX or scratch X will do the job, but you either have to remove the console or tape off the thing really well, because you don't want any chemicals bleeding into other areas.

I need to do this again too. It's a real pain!
I don't like to remove the center console, but I have microfiber gloves for improved precision.

Thank you gentlemen. Taking it all off is real work. Will try a product to see how far along it goes.
It's actually pretty bad, merely running your fingers on it can leave scratches! |

MAYBE I SHOULD GIVE MY PASSENGERS MICROFIBER GLOVES IN CASE THEY TOUCH THE TRIM!

Would a sealant like Optimum's Opti-seal help in preventing scratches? How long would it last?

I like the wood, but hate the scratches. I'd love to have matte black just on the centre console and wood on the dash like the M5, much more practical since the gear shift area is going to get scratches from day to day use. I'd consider buying the M5 console piece if if wasn't a different shape around the shifter.

Warning, it's not easy. Attempt at your own risk.

Console issues for me as well
Mine is very scratched as well and I have managed to get some change lodged in the ashtray so it wont open all the way. Might be time to pull the console off.
PITA tho.. |

I initially placed change in the ashtray, it got stuck, so I migrated to the cup holder, and then it got stuck again! I had to visit my dealer last week, and told him about it. He was nice enough to fix it for me without charge |
