Rattles and Squeaks
How's the F10 doing on the rattle and squeak front? The worst car I ever had on that score was a Lexus GS450h, closely followed by a Jag XF. I had an E60 a few years back that had one rattle from the parcel shelf area that I couldn't eliminate - it drove me crazy! Am a bit worried that being a new model the F10 could have a few infuriating rattle gremlins.

You don't say .... I have unfixable rattles & squeaks on my previous 07 Lexus GS. Drove me nuts thru 2 winter seasons and one day decided enough is enough. Got rid of it and got a E60. The E60 also have the rattles & squeaks as well but somewhat bearable.

Interesting. I have an 07 GS 450H which is rattle and noise free. Reliability has been superb. I hope my experience with my new 550i on order is anywhere near as good.

It's luck of the draw. My 2005 Acura RL was completely rattle/squeak free for over 5 years and 95K miles when many other owners were complaining of rattles.

None at all. Car is rock solid. In my opinion, people that complain about minor issues are either looking to complain because they paid too much or realize that they bought a car more expensive than their budget

from my experience most rattles and squeaks are from stuffs we put on the car.. not just coins and carry on items.. but a loose license plate could be a source as well. so can't always blame the car. =)

I've had 2 rattle issues with mine. The first one was fixed...there was apparently something that was cracked in the base of the rearview mirror. The second one is a rattle somewhere in the driver side dash. Irritates the crap out of me that I can't figure out the source. Nothing major, but still a little annoying.

Mojoe: check if its the wood panel on the passengers side that is causing the rattle. Someone I know was having very annoying rattle coming from that area and so the dealership found the wood panel to be the reason and installed some "part" to fix it.

I have one minor one on the dash to the left of the steering wheel. It's occasional and minor -- only there about 20% of the time. Haven't invested a lot of time yet trying to troubleshoot.

At the dealer's, they managed to solve it in less than 20 mins and the gremlin was caught beneath the bonnet - a tubing hitting on a metallic part of the power steering oil reservior!! You might want to look further away from what you thought could be the source of the rattling - happy trouble-shooting! |

My car has been rock solid in that regard. An annoying rattle coming from the dash turned out to be my flashlight in the trunk. Yep, sound travels oddly in these new, very tight cars.
Of course now I have no flashlight.

F10 550 driven since June 19th usually cruising around 100mph constantly, never a rattle or shake, the car is as close to bliss as I have experienced in my 20 years of driving.

I have a slight rattle on the dash next to ash tray area and it only needs the slightest touch to make it go away so its more than fixable, just need time to take it back into the dealers.

Some squeaks from the left side of the dashboard - very intermittent - 2 - 3 times in 3+ months of ownership. Never managed to trace it - just pressed down on the dashboard to make sure that the parts were properly fitted.

My 550i with 4,000 miles on it is rattle and squeak free. It is incredibly well built.
