New to the F-10 club. Suspension & Wheel question.
Last week I got rid of my 2005 545i and picked up a 2012 Jet Black 550i with the MTech package.
Coming from the e60, my first thought was that this thing drives and sits like a 4x4. My previous car had the dynamic drive and active roll stabilization, this one does not but it has the DDS and sport suspension. Now that I added the dinan stage II software, I feel like it has a ton of understeer. I don’t feel like I’m in touch with the road the same way that I was with my last car. I’m sure part of it is just me needing to get used to it but this thing needs some tweeks. The run flats need to go, I think I’ve decided on the 20” Vossen CV3 wheels but I’m still up in the air on suspension. I talked with my dealer and they quoted me 1600 for the dinan springs installed. It sounds like I’ll get the performance I want out of them but I’m concerned that the ride height will still be too high. The dealer said that it will drop the car ½” and then over the next couple weeks, it should settle another ½” for a total drop of 1”. What have other people experienced with the dinan springs? The last thing I want to do is spend all this money and not like the look. On the other hand, I don’t really want to put any part that could affect my warranty, so it seems like my option is dinan or just leave it as is. Also, on the Vossen wheels. would 295's on the rear give me any rubbing issues with the 10.5" wide wheels? |

I don't think the Dinan springs will give you the drop you are looking for. I had the sport suspension on my ride and I was blow away by how high that thing sat. I went with ACS springs. The cars drop is perfect and it handles how you would want it to handle. Lower to the ground and eliminates boat feeling. As for the comfort of ride it did not change. It's not a harsher ride at all. Just as smooth as the sport suspension I had before so it was a win all around. I highly recommend.

I appreciate the info. I'm hesitant to mess with my warranty right now. I also emailed dinan to see what they say about future settling.
The pic of the white f-10 that they show on their website looks perfect. It also looks like a hell of a lot more then a half inch drop...

Springs shouldn't effect warranty and they probably wont even know they are there. They are black just like sports springs.

Why would you spend $1600 on just springs.... get Megan Racing Coilovers for under $1K with install only a few hundred more at LTBMW (LTMW)

2 week wait for the acs and then another 2 weeks until the wheels arrive. Stereo goes in next week as well as some other parts from trinity.
Tint, dinan stage 2 & some wrap are done. Car should be done by early December. I can't wait to be back to driving a modded car again. This stock stuff sucks.
