285/35/19 on a 9" wheel?

Would jumping to a 285 for the rear wheels (OEM staggered set-up) make the tires look like they don't fit? I have 245 Michelen AS3s on the front 8.5" wheel, and it fill that tire fully and has beefy squares shoulders (side walls).

285 is too wide.

I feel 275 is the max on 9" wide wheels.

285 would not be a problem on a 9" wide rim. check on willtheyfit.com

also rim width tire reference - http://www.galantvr4.org/docs/rimwidth.htm

Can it be done? Sure, but it will mushroom over the sides of the wheel.

Things are always bigger in Texas! But bigger is not always better.
