New guy, introduction
Hi.
Just joined this board as I just got my 2012 F11 ///M550xd two days ago. Not new to BMW's or forums, but new to the 5 series. Come from 6 years in an E46 M3, and I also have an 850 that I have had for 8 years. Now I am looking forward to start tinkering with the F11. Have a few mod's planned, so I will be watching this forum closely for tips on things to do. Here are a few pictures of the car, bone stock as of today. Going to get rid of some of the chrome details, and looking for new wheels as the stock 19" are not that exciting. I know ArneR on this forum personally and his 535dT is a huge inspiration for me. Thinking about a drop, but not sure about it as my car has all the fancy suspension from the factory like Adaptive M-suspension and dynamic drive (active swaybars to keep the car level when cornering). this is my old M3 that I sold a week ago. and my 850. |

Thanks guys.
I guess I will have to rely on your expertise as I have no clue about the 5 series. Have been playing around with my idrive this weekend to check out the features in there. And have been driving around trying out the different driving modes. Noticed that voice control was not active on my car, on my e46 it just had to be activated with a diagnostic tool. anyone know if that can be done on the F10/11, and other nice things that can be coded? |

Looking forward to seeing developments in the near future. If you're thinking about alloy mods, v-spoke 463 would look great on the F11 (IMO).

Thanks, the 8 has been an 8 year "project", started with getting the technical stuff up to standard, then started to do some personal modifications, not there yet, but give it a few more years and the "to-do" list should not be that long any more.
You could say that, guess you could say it's a perk of not having children or a wife Quote:
A simple 5 spoke, or split 5 spoke would be nice. So far the Kellerens Munchen are the only ones I have found, sadly no larger than 20", and the offset for the front is 47mm so it require 15mm spacers, I don't want spacers. The OEM 20" styling 434 are really nice, but also really expensive. Thinking about a slight drop, but I'm not sure if that will affect all the electronic stuff in my suspension. I think I can get away with 20" on the current height, but 21"s will require a drop. Might be doing some black details here and there (door handle chrome trim, trim around the turn indicator) checked lamin-x site but they don't have a taillamp tint kit for the Touring. I did notice that remmib's car had white trim around the turn indicator, and that also looked nice, so I might go for that. I was thinking about black grilles and make my mirrors black or white, but that means removing the signature M550d gray bits, so I am not sure. Wow, that just became a really long post |
