Illuminated? ring around touch pad in iDrive knob

I’m back to 5-series and it’s a fantastic feeling! I would like to ask a question to anyone here who have Ceramic Controls option (S4U1A).
On my previous car (335i ’13) I had the same kind iDrive control knob with Touch function (but not ceramic), and at night there was a nice thin illuminated ring just around the touch area. See the first photo, yellow arrow.

In the present car (530d ’14) the whole iDrive knob (as ceramic) is darker, nicer feel, but…. I can not see that illumination. All surrounding buttons, (BACK, NAV, TEL, MENU…) are illuminated but not the knob itself. Could you guys check it out on yours if you have any illumination in the knob? Maybe it is just the ceramic which have no illumination - or mine is defective?
I’m not sure how it was from the very first day, have noticed that first today.

I do not have an illuminated light ring on my 2015 550 with ceramic controls.

I wish it did, however, as it looks quite nice.

I haven't noticed illumination on mine, either... too lazy to go check right now, though.

thank you guys for your input, - it's so disappointing that there is no illumination, at least should they make it just under the knob...

My iDrive knob illuminate but not at the top ring as pointed out. The lower portion has a slight green ring that glows at night.

Mine illuminates but my current car does not have ceramic controls. The new replacement I ordered does have ceramic and I really hope I don't lose that illuminated ring. Nervously awaiting my individual interior.

Also.... am I going to lose the M door sills and get "BMW individual" ones instead? Why in the world do I want to be reminded BMW raped me another 3 grand for me to get a slightly different leather option, and that I was dumb enough to go ahead and order it.
