I just installed new tires today. Hankook S1 Noble2. 255/40 - all around. The ride is smoother yet I feel more connected to the road. The feel has intensified approximately 15%+ . You can really feel the different. While I had the tires replaced I also painted the brake calipers gloss black. (No decals). I am going to enjoy this setup for about a week or so until I install the M5 sway bar. After that it will most likely be the Dinan springs.

The overall diameters for your tires are:
255/35/20 is 27"
285/30/20 is 26.7"
Your xDrive will not be happy with that. Try 245/35/20 (26.8" overall diameter) for the front. If you go for staggered setup you will need to keep the front and rear overall diameters as close as possible.

i know it is off by about 1.1%, but is it not that a difference of under 3% is ok, just wanted slightly wider tires as my front wheel is 20x9. and the ideal size for a 9" rim is 255.

Also, with slight tire pressure changes you can have that height difference between front and back with same tires on all four corners.

so finally had my wheels and tires fitted, will post pics as soon as this weather clears up.

wheels look really great.

Dan,
went with 245,35,20 instead of 255,35,20 for the front.

could not really test the tires, as whole way back i was only driving at 25 miles per hour. will report soon. Also got the brake calipers painted in red, they give a nice contrast with dark bronze wheels and AW.

The springs.... I am still going back and fourth if i want to do ACS or H&R.
I am starting to think the H@R is to much of a drop..
Hey how did you like those tires? I have a 535xi and I can't tell if the handling is really that crappy or if its the tires or a combination of both. I have about 900 miles on the tires and I'm taking them off I read the reviews and they aren't recommended for "spirited" driving because of the soft tire walls. I am going with something different, but I am really thinking about changing out my springs while I'm at it, this car just handles like a boat.

Tires are Amazing!!!!!! Highly recommend. I did 255/40 all around. Love it. Would not do bigger nor smaller. they are perfect size. You really feel better planted to the ground. You regain some of that old BMW feel. I love it!

Just had H&R springs installed on my 535 and call me crazy, but it feels as the ride has gotten smoother. The ride has gotten less bumpy and more mellow in response to road imperfections.

The car exhibits less roll and increased sexy-ness. If you're considering a set of springs for lowering I would highly recommend H&R.

I feel my stock m sport suspension felt stiffer than the H&R. Can't really opine on the ACS springs since I never tried them.

H&R all the way! Go H&R it's not too much drop, not at all. Just perfect. Anyway I have them and am very satisfied how the car looks. Good luck!
