1-20 20-40 40-60 60-80 80-100 or maybe: 1-20 1-40 1-60 1-80 1-100 but to answer your question, yes, if you put the fan speed on low in the middle of a heat wave, it might not cool the car down enough. |

Seems there are many people who are reading too much into the functions of Climate Control. Especially when climate control is something everyone uses on a day-to-day basis and is one of the easiest electronic systems to use on the car (other than turn signals and windows)
Lets break it down..... 'AUTO' - set temp to desired value - car adjusts using variety of vents to reach temperature and maintain it. 'Fan Speed Intensity" - adjusts the speed of the fan and volume of air displacement to get to the preset temperature 'red/blue dial' - this dial controls how fresh air is brought into the cabin - warmer or cooler How hard is that??? |

Auto: Set the temperature and the car figures out how much of heated or cooled air to get it there and keep it there.

And no place in the 6 pages of the manual for the Climate control does it say that.

In my previous X5 pressing the auto button multiple times took it through a cycle of soft, medium and intensive settings. This is the same principle but with a greater range of adjustment, can't for the life of me understand why people find it so complex. Set it and leave it, bar when you want the car to cool quickly and use max to do this.

The point was that you complained "many people who are reading too much into the functions of Climate Control". it happens for a reason and your own posts were easy fodder to show why.

I've gotten hooked on the "AUTO" feature. It cools the car down way quicker than just jacking up the vents on Max, IMO. Once it gets comfortable, set it to 65, 68, and it backs off or increases cooling based on the outside temps. Much prefer it.

I love it now that I understand how it works and it bends to my will.
