535D M Sport Touring - Deal was to tempting

My Son was interested in a new 118i and asked if I would come along to help negotiate the deal. All sounded straight forward however; I got cornered by the salesman who started to tell me about the fantastic deals on 535d’s…. Cut a long story short I have ordered one!

As with my 530, there is a limited budget so option ticking is limited but the discounts on offer meant I could get a few options and the Touring..

The choice of colours on the M Sport is just various shades of ‘dreich’ and I didn’t want carbon black again so just went for alpine white with the black exclusive leather.

Spec as follows:

• Sport Auto
• Pro Media
• HUD
• Privacy Glass
• Multifunction Display
• Speed Limit Display
• Loud Speaker Advanced
• Folding Mirrors
• VDC
• Towbar
• UK 13pin wiring for above
• Service pack

Looks like end of Nov for delivery.

Note to self; must stay away from dealer for at least 3 years!!

Interesting. Are you willing to tell us the discount you achieved? I'm in the market but had been focusing on the 530d but if the deals on 535ds are tempting.....

No problem, It was approx 28%. Others have reported more but I was happy with that as I don't have an appetite for buying from a dealer too far from home. It was also more than what is quoted on the comparison sites.

I am happy enough with the 530 however, on a PCP there was little between a 530 and a 535 so it was a bit of a no brainer.

Thanks. Is that with 5.9% APR?

I'd agree; If there's only a few quid between the fantastic 530d and the AWESOME 535d, it's a complete no-brainer!

Congrats on your new ride!

Congratulations and a good spec.
Great cars, you'll love it. A classic. Call me boring but I am on my third 5 series touring, moving from 520D, 530D and now the 535D. The 535 is in a league of its own, impressive the other two were. I simply cannot find a better car with such good residual values.

25-28% is normal discount actually

Hmmmmm. 30% sounds pretty tempting... Nice choice. Shame there is no Sophisto Grey anymore.

Same path as myself Shiner; 520 then 530 but the 535 is my first Touring. All the positive reviews are reassuring and really looking forward to it.

Yes that would have probably been my only other choice. I also liked the mineral white but not available on the M Sport.

There is a considerable difference between the 530D and the 535D and I am not saying that as a badge snob. And that's why BMW make a 535D....... The noise the engine makes and the acceleration is way above the 530D - and I was very impressed with my 530D too.

Over 10000 miles, mixture of Motorway, City and A/B roads - with the later two the most predominant, I have been getting about 38mpg.

If you are in Sport Mode and kicking it down so it's like a rocket ship - which it is (0-60 in about 5.3s [for a two ton car!]) - you'll be lucky to get 20mpg. But you aren't going to do that often are you?

I recently got around 28% on my 5series with loads of extras. Is this a normal discount someone could get on say the G30 that comes in early next year?

I didn't think of the G30 when ordering as the deal was too good to refuse and on trying to get a similar price from other dealerships I was told to "bite their hand off" for the deal I was given so went straight back and ordered. This was for a car already in BMW storage (July build)

Will the F10 depreciate really quick when the G30 arrives? The pics look stunning and are on the BMW website now

Any thoughts?

I ordered my own spec 535D M Sport it came to £64K, I got 30%+ off it cost me £43K all in.
High spec with Moonstone paint and Cashmere Merino Beige Leather. So "Individual" .
I would doubt very much discount if any on the new 5 series next year till end of next year.
Not sure how depreciation is going to effect this model but should not be too bad IMO.
After all we got a large discount to start with.
Mine arrives next week, it's at ELMS Bedford as we write having the 19" M Sport wheels painted Orbit Grey.

Great...I should have bargained more!!!

I am thinking of getting the wheels painted too. Only concern is if/when kerbed it will expose the inner silver. With factory made coloured alloys Im guessing if they kerb it will expose the same inner colour. Just a thought.

(Some two way single lane tunnels in London are so badly designed that if you have a van or similar coming on the opposite side and you try and make some extra room you end up kerbing youre wheels and I have the misfortune of using these tunnels regularly )

I use the rotherhithe tunnel a lot and it is scary narrow, I took my M6 GC through once and shat myself it was so tight.
I think my wheels should look good, I will post up some pictures next week.
My daughter lives in Admiral Place , next to the Thames.

Errr Rotherhithe ...tell me about it. Some nasty van drivers play pranks at the turnings especially when they get distracted by the adaptive LEDs (thats my conclusion lol). I have kerbed my front left wheel on couple of occasions there. I use it almost everyday...absolute nightmare if your not focussing 150%!

Will await youre pics....

First review is in this months Auto Car however, Touring won't arrive until late 2017 and no 535 on launch. I seriously doubt you will get 30% discount however, a few other points to consider:
  • The F10 is as good as its ever been after 6 years of tweaking.
  • Most faults have been rectified in campaigns
  • The G30 is back at the start of this journey
  • Spec on the G30 will no doubt be improved within first year

At the end of the day I recon 3 years into the G30 will be a good time to buy, or just after the first facelift.

Personally the main benefit is the F10 is 100kg heavier than the G30 and I tow a caravan (yes I know..) so weight reduction is not good for me.

The G30 does look stunning and I am sure it will be a worthy replacement, although I am not convinced by some of the tech which is just pure gimmickry, the gesture thing is ridiculous IMO e.g. waving your hand in circles to turn up the volume - pretty sure the buttons on the steering wheel will work better!

I'm pleased to have read this from a personal point of view (about there being no 535 on launch or touring). I've not had my F10 lci long and was gutted to see the G30 so soon. But next I'm after a 535d touring so I'm pleased that I might be looking at a car with some minor bugs already ironed out on the first derivative. The new car looks stunning but it will have teething problems as it's 'all new'. Same in any product launch.
