Best waxes etc for my carbon black F10?

Guys

Please can you recommend what are the best waxes, sealants etc to use on my carbon black F10 and where to order them from.

Looking to get some in before she arrives in two weeks time.

Many thanks

Hahahahaaaa this topic is bound to open a can of worms!!

Hi Andy. As mine a similarly dark colour, I've been trawling too and visited some forums about the topic. Here's a UK one.

Anyways, there are LOTS of opinions out there, but as I already have Klasse All-In-One and Collinite 845, I'm going to get either AutoGlym High Definition or R222 Carnauba Wax. Any of these I doubt would set you back more than 25 pounds each.

Both the R222 and HD get very warm reviews.

Depending on how the car is delivered to you, I'd probably go over it with the Klasse all-in-one (which is really just a cleaner) and then the collinite and then the R222 Carnauba Wax. The wax is really a sacrificial (yet optically vibrant) layer that you can keep topping up regularly before having to replenish the Collinite sealant.

In summary, the Klasse is a prep, the Collinite a sealant, and the wax the overcoat.

Read the forums and get as much info as you can. One thing to remember though, you need time for some of these products to properly 'heal' and set onto the paintwork. You don't have to wait b/n the Klasse and Collinite, but I'd wait a day b/n the Collinite and the Wax.

Many thanks for this feedback and information, as you say I am sure the lid will certainly be off now, it’s a very personal and emotive issue deciding how to keep you baby looking her best........I have looked at a few posts on the wash/wax part of this forum, but all seem to be American therefore reason for the post.

Although I am very fastidious about cleaning my car, I have never gone to the trouble of getting specialist sealers, waxes, etc. So now that I am spending £44k on a new car and it's a dark colour, thought I had better take some advice and spend some serious money on keeping her looking her best for the next few years.

Thanks for this, didnt realise you could get so much stuff, and how much a tin of wax can costs. Makes petrol/diesel seem cheap.......................

You can spend ridiculous sums, but they recommended nothing more than a £16 bottle of 'Werkstat Acrylic Jett' for my white car and one winter later, it still looks like new.

Hi andyk500!
When you get your new F10 in Carbon Black, please put some pics on.
To me its the most interesting colour(?) about.
I've just got to convince those at home. They like to put their spoke in!
Cheers!

See my thread in the general area "day one review and buying summary F10 520d M sport" this has pics in it, but I think the best CB pics are in Indus's thread "first pics of carbon black F10 535d MS" in the media area his pics show the blue of the colour indoors and black colour outside.

Edwin also had good CB pics posted in Jan I think.

In general I am do glad I went for CB it looks amazing when clean. But needs cleaning every week. Hard work but worth it.

I used some chemical guys petes 53 on our black disco yesterday - a car thats been through the wars somewhat, but the wax made it shine!!

Soon as i get my F10 im gonna spend a day waxing it - sounds odd, but it a job i really love.
