Just swapped H&R sport springs, under $4k installed. Not shocks swapping. Lowered about 1.3" front and back, now can stick less than 2 fingers in wheel gaps.

Forgestar got from Advan Shop Tin Hau. Great service, recommended.

@chiver - Cool. Let me know how that goes. Change to the H&R springs sounds like the way to go.

@RC3 - Do you mind me asking how much for the rims?

@mlai - not yours mate. This one had Autoart wheels. Level 15 of Megabox.

All this talk is making my mouth water. Finance approved today. Time to hassle the dealer!

[QUOTE=Sealobo;9391131]Hi there,

My 535i came with the 18" oem style 237 wheels (picture below)... seriously considering to get something aftermarket to have them replaced.

Hi Sealobo;
Welcome join F10 family, you already made a smart choice!
It is not bad for those 18" 237, if only equipped with a smaller 3 er, or even is good enough for E60.
Just curiously, did you optioned those wheels with M pack or opt individual?

the 237 wheels came with the car. my 535i is the first batch of car made in April 2010. i got in early and paid less for more... which was great.

the problem with the 237 wheel is that they're heavy as nuts; about 35lbs each for the size 8jx18... along with the RFT that's some crazy unsprung weight.

and... 245/45 18 at the back is seriously under-tire. the car can't take off properly under full throttle.

You mean US$1,000? 237 if you trade in here around HK$ 7-8k. Around the same as what they pay you in the states bro.

Where are you changing your springs? Alignment should be around $600 to 800. If you do it do it after a few weeks or so. Let the springs settled before doing it.

Yes oem wheels are always as heavy as tons iron, even my 17" with ROF tire weights astonished 59 lbs. That's almost 240 lbs just for wheels & tires, totally insane! Much contradict to what BMW's dynamic philosophy!
I think one of the reasons is the safety, which make it's oem rims using much sturdy, read thick alloy, but worse was they were made from Cast form
Which's why I am going to swap 19" forged rim that is lighter & installed
regular tires to shed even more unsprung weight!
Hope you can soon find your beloved as well

OE rims are cast therefore heavy. They are not safer or more sturdy, they are just cheaper to produce than forged rims. Actually BMW offers forged rims option for M cars.

It is just a matter of preference. Some prefer performance then go for aftermarket forged or flow formed rims. Some prefer OE style therefore go for OE rims.

+1

Do alignment and adjust the camber after it settled in 2-3 weeks. HKD600-800 is about the range. Friend of mine will do alignment everytime he changed tires, save tire thread in the long run.

The tire shop under the viaduct on Ching Fung Street is pretty good, forgot the name. Just right across "Lau's Kitchen"

Hi Lads,

Where is Wah Kee on Gloucestor Rd? Might go to HK side today and browse the rims. Apologies in advance to RC3 if I get the FS F14 in gunmetal. Looks sick on your car mate.

One more question. Are you guys with HR or RD springs finding any of the "bouncy" issues on the highway referred to in other forums?

Ta.
