Good question, from my initial search the option is no longer available the same way it did with the E60, one possible way is to use the scroll wheel, check the US video manual, the "X3 Instrument Cluster" video, works the same for the % series.

I also miss the switch on the E60 with the option to program a number of functions through it, in all I am not happy with how they moved the cruise controls to the steering when I hardly use it.

Assuming the iPod is connected via USB:
Use the right rocker switch for scrolling up and down the current playlist, a small part of the playlist will be displayed below the tach. Select the song by pressing the rocker switch in.

When I do that there is not a list of songs. Only the song that is playing.

You can see the songs after changing the playback in the I-drive system to random. The songs then show up and you can change them with the scroll wheel. Give it a try.

also, in I-drive do a search for e.g. podcast, and then start playing the podcast from inside the search results -> the search result list is now also available behind the scroll wheel.

so you don't turn the steering wheel to the right to go down the track list and left to go up it?

Thank you for all your suggestions. I tried them all. Still does not work. I get only the song that is playing under my steering wheel. I tried going to "random". Did not work. When I first got the car, I was able to get the entire list of songs from my steering wheel control. Now only the song playing. What did I do wrong???

My guess is that you navigated down to a single song on your iPod instead of having "started playback" after selecting at the album or whole playlist level on the iDrive controller. I've found myself going one level too deep a few times because I wanted a certain song, but after the song is over, I'd hear it again since I basically "landed" at a playlist of just that single song. Now I go into the album in question, select a song, and then it moves on to the next song in that album. Plus, they all show up on the scroll wheel list under the speedo and tach.

Good luck!

It sounds like you are looking at the "now playing" playlist. Change it to artists or albums and you should be able to scroll.

You have to select some sort of playlist whether created by you or an album or artist, etc then hit play all. I think you are just selecting one single song and playing it individually.
