What child seats are you using? (UK based)

I'm getting an F11 very soon and when I was test driving the F10 I noticed that my current child seats didn't fit that well. They were a bit too wide for the seat belt to clip around them and I had to lift the child set up a bit when I clicked the belt into the buckle.

I need seats for a 5 year old. The 2 year olds seat was fine.

Please let me know what you are using and if the seat isn't too wide to let you get the belt into the buckle easily.

I'm UK based so brands that are available here please.

This doesn't help you, but just to note that I purchased the OEM BMW Junior Seat II-III which you'd think would be a perfect fit (especially given the $$$ mark-up). Same thing though - buckling the seat-belt is a PIA - have to push the seat towards the door quite a bit each time - my wife can't do it. ;-)

Actually that does help. I was thinking of buying them, even though they are expensive, just so they would fit correctly.

Interesting.
They fit perfectly in many other BMW models.

That's my interior - trim, leather, seat ;-) It fits but it's really difficult to buckle it - I have to push the seat towards the door hard to get enough clearance.

That’s what I have do on my current (non-BMW) child seats and is what I am trying to avoid.

The child seats from my X5 and my wife's car both entirely covered the belt receiver in the F10.

I went to a store and had to go back and forth from the showroom with floor models one at a time and try them all.

The best I could do was a Diono Monterey booster. The fit is still tight but my 5 year old can fasten himself in so it works...not great but well enough....and that's using the isofit.

I believe they're available in the UK as well.

Ok, you actually have the BMW Junior I-II seat with Isofix.

The Isofix adds the side buckling point for when the child is small and you fix the seat with Isofix and then buckle the front guard over the child.

This side buckling point is now getting in your way.

The non Isofix version does nto have this side buckle on teh chair.

i dont have one here to check, but from pictures it looks like there is a screw holding it on, so it may be removable

The piece in the large circle is whats in your way and only needed for Isofix. There is one on each side. The non-Isofix version does not have it

The small circle shows what looks like a screw hole.
I think it may be removable
This would solve your problem

You're right - I have Junior Seat I-II, not II-III. The ISOFIX addons are, unfortunately, non-removable - there's a small rivet, not a screw keeping them on. Perhaps the non-ISOFIX seats are a better fit.

Looking at the youtube video, I believe you get more room with the Britax isofix KIDFIX one a UK based seat co (http://www.britax.co.uk/car-seats/car-seats/kidfix), I had 2 of them for both my kids since my E60, one problem with the F10, is the position of the isofix hooks being too close to the seat belt lock, it drives me nuts how little space you have so have to push the belt against the seat when trying to lock it, this was not the case with the e60 and my wife X3, so my advise if you getting isofix seats try and see how close they are to the seat belt lock before you buy them, because any wider seats then the britax, closing the belt will be impossible.

I have the BMW Junior I-II seat with Isofix for my two year old. The seat is advertised as suitable for a child up to 25 kg, when it then needs to come off the isofix and mounted using the seat belt. I suspect you can remove the side buckle, I will check and come back to you about it.
