Key and Seat Programming
How do I program my key, so that if I use Key 1 and another person uses Key 2, that when I get into the car, the seat is automatically adjusted to my seat position stored as Memory 1? Thanks!

And if you don't want to go to your car to get your manual, you can get all the manuals online on bmwusa.com..
http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/content/owner/dgh.aspx Page 33. Settings / Door Locks / Last Seat Position Auto Note that I don't think this assigns seat positions to 1/2, it just records the last used seat position in the key that was used and restores it. I'm not sure if you have to assign the different keys to different profiles for this to work or not. Page 29 describes assigning keys to profiles. This allows the 1/2 buttons to be totally different for the different keys, along with car settings, stero presets, soft-buttons, screen settings, etc.

Page 33 of the 2011 manual under profiles (your manual may be different). Set up your profile and rename. Then set up another profile. When the second key gets in the car go to Settings-profile, then choose the correct name. Now when key 1 enters the car it will automatically go back to the first profile (your key). When key two enters the car it will switch to key 2 profile.

Thank you for your replies, Gentlemen.
I thought all that was needed to activate this feature was to select "Last Seat Position Automatic" (Page 37 of the 2011 7 Series manual, which has no detail), but based on what everyone is saying here, it seems what I am seeking to do also relates to "User Profiles" (Pages 33-35 of the 2011 7 Series manaul, which has little / minimal detail). So, I guess I'll try to configue "User Profiles" and see what results... Otherwise, I found this very informative post, which might provide help to others on this subject as well: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...2&postcount=11 |

This is a sweet sentiment, and one that I often subscribe to, but if you had actually had the question and looked for yourself in the manual, you would realize that the manual is completely deficient on this subject. Questions not addressed by the manual include, among others:
- what happens when the service department or a valet or someone else uses your key and changes the setting you want - how the memory buttons, 1 and 2, relate to the key memory. If anyone here has a decent understanding of this mess, it would be appreciated if you would explain it. |

I feel your pain dbs600. You're not lazy. The manual is very unclear about setting the seat with the remote. I have it on my question lost for the dealers "BMW Genius". (I just took delivery of my 2015 5 series.)
