Going to switch to non-runflats. The factory tyres have basically done one trip to Nottingham and back, about 450 miles, sat on the motorway, before I stuck them in the garage to try a set of 17s I have kicking around.
Can sell the tyres on their own, or possibly swap them for another complete set of rims and tyres, as long as yours also have the latest TPMS sensors. Looking for about £400 for the tyres. |

Ignore this - have just bought a set of 18s with part worn winter tyres off ebay, and will put summer non-RFTs on instead. Cost about 700 euros inc postage, and they come with genuine RDC/TPMS senders.
They're style 234, which is factory fit on some 5 GTs and 6 series, so definitely strong enough, and have the correct offset, PCD etc. They also weigh only 11.1 kg each which is 1.7 kg less than the 328s that came with my car. So the 234s plus non-RFT tyres should save me about 5-6 kg per corner even though the tyre and wheel sizes are the same. Add in rotational inertia and in total that's maybe 40kg less mass to accelerate and brake. This is what they look like on a 5 GT: |
