I don't know if it happens just to me but whenever I take my car to a dealer with squeaking or rattling issues, the car stops making any kind of noise when I test drive it with a tech person sitting next to me. Or they do some kind of a trick that makes all the noises go away during test drives. When I get back home the rattling or squeaking is there. I have been hearing rattling from somewhere between the glove box and the passenger door especially when I accelerate from first gear to second, but I am trying to get used to it rather than thinking about taking the car back to dealer

If you have an auto, try the cover of the double cup holder - the cover on mine has an irritating rattle there which only resonates at certain low engine revs.

The cup holder in mine has a buzz coming from it from time to time. As sure as I take it in it won't do it. It's frustrating.

I have the exact same problem, just started at 29k miles.

I don't see any advantage in letting the "techs" at your dealer take apart your interior to try to locate the rattle. Chances are that the rattle will not be fixed and you will acquire other issues in the process. My advice is to not let the "techs' try to fix a rattle - in my experience, most of them go away by themselves anyway.

There's a good possibility that the squeak gremlins are caused by the door seals like those in the E60s, the 3M anti-friction tape applied by the dealer has been proven to work albeit having the unsightly tape clearly visible on dark color cars and that occasional embarrassing question from friends.

I had this problem with my E60, squeaking noises that seemed to come from anywhere but the doors, but the service tech put some lubricant on them and the noises stopped.

To the people with squeeky seats, I also had squeeky seats when I hit read bumps. The dealer replaced the seat base for me and now it's gone.

Same here. Passenger seat seems to rub against center console and makes annoying noise. I put my fingers between the seat and the center console, and noise goes away. Annoying.

I had a rattle coming from my passenger seat and it turned out to be the head rest....it has a fore/aft adjustment and it would rattle when going over uneven roads. I can reach over and push on it during driving and it seems to click into a notch and stop rattling for a while. I finally sat in the seat and moved the headrest back and forth and it has settled into a position where it doesnt rattle.

However, the MOST annoying rattle in my car is coming from the driver side dash area. I have had the vent out, the headlight switch, etc etc and still cant seem to find it. I thought it was something loose in the instrument cluster but now I dont know. I have had to the dealer twice with no such luck. I am about to tear the whole dash apart or trade it in! Anyone have any rattles they have found in the driver side dash area!?

These cars are acoustic nightmares. I also have a nasty rattle that is actually just the passenger seatbelt buckle hitting the pillar sometimes, depending on how the last passenger let the belt retract. I just move the belt and it's fine.

Check for loose change. Seriously.
Wrap the belt in Velcro tape, the soft kind.

Try moving the seat through to its track stops.

Just say your engine made weird noises one day and you want to go out for a drive to reproduce it. Some service departments have been known to use a little speaker that emits imperceptible frequencies actively to cancel out road and interior noises, kind of like active noise cancellation headphones.

It's as if the car knows and does it to toy with you. Speaking of rattles and squeaks, there is no car worse than a Range Rover. I had a new one for 2 months before it had to go. My 550 is much quieter, but there is a subtle 'ticking' noise in the headliner. My family thinks I'm nuts. They may be right.

Glad you found the noise. Much better than having a tech go hunting...

As for my F10, she's still tight (fingers crossed). My '09 E70 X5 35d on the other hand, was beginning to squeak like an old Ford Explorer. Part of the reason I got rid of it.
