BMS N63 Stage 1 installed last night, sorry E92 DCT M3, thank you BMS/Terry

So finally got to install my BMW N63 Stage 1 tune on my 2013 550i. In full disclosure I struggled over the weekend to get the tmap sensor clips off (there are 2) and got frustrated . Last night I met up with a fellow enthusiast (1M & RS4 owner) and we installed it together. Turns out it was excessively simple and I was being overly cautious.

Anyhow, no need for in depth reviews or videos (yet), but timing was perfect and I got to toy around with a random fellow BMW owner while testing out the new digs...

He was in a sweet looking Matte White E92 DCT, with exhaust, blue brembo brakes, black csl style wheels, and NY plates. We didn't lie up or roll officially from 3 honks but did a couple of back to back pulls.

I had my buddy in the car, a full tank of gas, and the AC on. Over the 3-4 pulls starting from various speeds I was pulling on him all steps of the way save for the .5 second jump he naturally got from the M3 + DCT's godly throttle response. But that was it... I continued to casually pull away each time, putting more and more distance between us.

Two points to note: First - I continue to be dumbfounded at the combination between speed and quietness in the 550. Its ridiculous. Second - I am surprised a little bit that I pulled on him so hard, considering that he had DCT, and at a minimum exhaust (likley had other mods since he had an awesome full brembo brake kit).

For all of those continue to ponder the BMS N63 Stage 1, you're making a big mistake. Roll by NJ and I or BadBlack550xi will show you how big of a mistake you're making.

I need to order mine. I just installed the Active Autowerke exhaust, and now I need more power. I ran the JB tune on my old E92 335 and was very impressed with it.

can you give more detail here? were you just being scare that you didn't want to break the clips?

i'm always worried about snapping something due to force.

Yes, I was scared I was going to break or scratch the clips and I was being excessively cautious.

At my second attempt I studied the clips a bit further and figured out you just need to depress the clip with a long and thin screwdriver and the stock tmap connectors easily come out. You just need to be patient on your first attempt but it really only take < 5 minutes.

How modded?

They can make 57/77 awhp/awtrq over stock w/ tune only, and 108/80 awhp/awtrq with tune/pulley/exhaust. If stage 2, he'll possibly pull on you unless you're running 100 octane and up the boost.

12.1 114

That's what BadBlack550xi basically ran on 100 octane.

Ya I know I am in trouble because he has the complete APR map pack and Stasis exhaust. He says he is going to run the 93 octane map. I expect that it will come down to how well he can drive a stick for me to have a chance. I am waiting for the USB cable to run a touch more boost with a higher octane. Possibly 3 PSI.

Is anyone in the USA running the BMS stage 1 tune with a catted/catless downpipe?

Not currently but I've run the BMS stage 1 with the BMS Catless downpipe in the past. What were you trying to figure out?

BMS doesn't make a downpipe for the 550i. AR design does, active autowerks too I believe.

Trying to get some first hand impression on the stage 1 tune from BMS plus a catted or Catless downpipe. Obviously it makes more power but I'm interested in the subjective impression and would ideally love to drive one :-)

yeah, I've got a 535i, the power gain was noticeable and the car had a nice growl when the engine was warm (sounded terrible cold). Made the car feel a little lighter...almost like the engine was "breathing" better. My biggest problem which was the reason I went back to stock was the smell, the exhaust smell was too much for me and outweighed the hp gain.

I've had Catless downpipes on 2 bmw's before (135i's) but I'm specifically curious about the v8 550 :-)

That is the exact set up I am looking at for myself. Do you have any video clips or audio clips?

No audio/video as of recent, so I apologize for that. Once leisure becomes relatively available, I'll make an effort to record something.
