how much sulphur in your diesel
hi guys
just wondering what sulphur content do you guys use on your diesel powered machines. i am picking up my 335d tom and my dealer says that i must ALWAYS use 50ppm. just to let you know 50ppm here in South Africa is not available at every service station. what would happen if you put in 500ppm diesel? regards |

The manual says to use ULSD DIN 590http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EN_590. No idea what will happen if you use non-compliant fuel but I doubt it will be anything good - maybe even will void your warranty. It's all Euro IV in the EU nowadays which is 50 ppm.

You mean it's all Euro V nowadays in the EU. As far as I know, this standard agrees a maximum of 10ppm. It's called ultra-low-sulphur diesel.
Also, I heard that less sulphur in the diesel means less lubrication for the engine's injection system. Last edited by M1rcea; 07-29-2011 at 03:31 AM.. |
